Although the numbers are still lower than pre-Covid-19 times, Japan is still proving attractive to tourists from the land of smiles.

According to the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), Thailand ranked 6th among the top 10 countries and regions in terms of tourist arrivals to Japan. In the first 11 months of 2024, 1,002,200 Thai tourists visited the land of the rising sun, up 15.2% compared to the same period last year. However, this figure decreased by 13.2% compared to 2019 and the time when the Covid-19 pandemic began.
The beauty of Japan's autumn continues to fascinate Thai tourists, with 118,000 Thais booking flights to the Land of the Rising Sun in November alone, up 3.4% year-on-year, despite a 15.9% drop before Covid-19.
Statistics from JNTO show that Japan welcomed 33.37 million foreign visitors in the first 11 months of this year, up 49.5% year-on-year and up 13.7% from 31.88 million visitors before the pandemic.
Meanwhile, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the Southeast Asian country welcomed 35,047,501 international visitors between January 1 and December 27, 2024, generating revenue of more than 1,800 billion baht (over 52 billion USD).
