
The tournament is a key sports activity in a series of events celebrating the 71st anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2025); 26 years since Hanoi was recognized by the United Nations Educational , Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a City for Peace.
The 50th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace 2025 was assigned by the Hanoi People's Committee to two agencies: Hanoi Moi Newspaper and Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports to co-organize.
The final competition took place at Ba Kieu Temple flower garden and around Hoan Kiem Lake with the participation of more than 4,000 athletes, of which more than 3,000 athletes participated in the official competition.
At the final round of the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run this year, the advanced content gathered more than 150 athletes from 16 provinces, cities and sectors across the country including: Thai Nguyen, Ha Tinh, Bac Ninh, Son La, Tuyen Quang, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Hung Yen, Ho Chi Minh City, Lang Son, Hai Phong, Gia Lai, Army, Capital University, Hanoi University of Physical Education and Sports... universities, colleges and 126 communes and wards of Hanoi Capital participated.
This year's tournament attracted many famous athletes in the athletics world such as: Tran Van Dang (Hanoi), Trinh Quoc Luong (Army), Phan Dang Khoa (Ha Tinh)... In addition, there were also many talented young athletes such as Do Duc Thang, Doan An Khanh, Vu Manh Hung (Ninh Binh), Tran Minh Van (Thai Nguyen), Le Thuy Linh, Nguyen Hai Yen (Bac Ninh), Le Van Thao, Ha Duc Thang, Ha Van Hoan (Thanh Hoa)...
Athletes participated in 12 competitions at the following distances: 1,750m for men and women in middle and high schools of districts, towns and cities (1 lap around Hoan Kiem Lake); 1,750m for women in universities, colleges, vocational high schools, and foreigners; 3,500m for men in universities, colleges, vocational high schools, and foreigners (2 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake); 3,500m for women in production and armed forces (2 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake); 5,250m for men in production and armed forces (3 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake).
The new feature of this year's tournament is the addition of a 1,750m sponsors' competition for both men and women. This is an effort by the Organizing Committee to encourage athletes from amateur running clubs and high-level freestyle athletes to increase the attractiveness of the tournament.
In the advanced running event for athletes from provincial and municipal athletics teams, athletes will compete in the 5,250m women's and 8,750m men's events (5 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake).
In addition, the final round of the 50th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace 2025 had about 250 foreigners who are officials and employees of 20 embassies, international organizations, and international schools studying and working in Hanoi registered to participate in the run and sign the peace flag.
