35 years ago, Australia was the first foreign investor in the telecommunications sector to come to Vietnam. This relationship will enter a new phase with cooperation in digital transformation and digital economy .
On the morning of July 27, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Information and Communications , Minister Nguyen Manh Hung had a meeting with Mr. Andrew Goledzinowski, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam. The content of the meeting revolved around the upcoming visit to Australia by the Ministry of Information and Communications delegation.
Thanking the Australian Embassy in Vietnam for its support, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung said he highly appreciated the upcoming visit and hoped that this trip would open a new page in cooperation between the two countries in the fields of IT, broadcasting, digital transformation, digital economy, etc.

Talking to the Ambassador, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung recalled the event of Australia's Telstra company being the first foreign enterprise to sign a business cooperation contract (BCC) on telecommunications with Vietnam in the early years of renovation.
According to the Minister, recently, cooperation in the field of Information and Communications between Vietnam and Australia has not been commensurate with the potential of the relationship between the two countries. In the coming time, digital cooperation will be an important pillar in the cooperative relationship between the two countries. The new page in this relationship will revolve around digital transformation and the digital economy.
Vietnam hopes that Australia will share its development experiences in technology in general and digital technology in particular. Vietnamese enterprises can also contribute to Australia's digital transformation process.
One issue that Vietnam is interested in is the development of digital human resources. Vietnam wants to pilot a digital university model and hopes that Australian universities can open facilities or cooperate with Vietnamese universities.
The Ministry of Information and Communications is supporting Vietnamese digital technology enterprises to go abroad. Sharing more with the Ambassador, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said that Vietnam is the fifth country to produce 5G equipment. During the upcoming visit, the delegation will also introduce 5G equipment produced in Vietnam to Australian telecommunications companies.
“ I studied in Australia. Australia has always held an important position in my heart. I really want to come here as a Minister to promote the cooperative relationship between the two countries ,” Minister Nguyen Manh Hung shared.

Thanking the Ministry of Information and Communications for the welcome, Ambassador Andrew Goledzinowski said that he knew that Vietnam is the country with the second fastest technological development speed in the world, and even has the potential to reach the first position.
“ Through my meetings with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, I understand how important digital transformation is to Vietnam’s development. Australia is the earliest investor in Vietnam in the telecommunications sector. I am delighted that the delegation will visit Telstra to discuss cooperation, ” said Ambassador Andrew Goledzinowski.
According to the Ambassador, the Vietnamese and Australian governments will consider upgrading the bilateral relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
According to Ambassador Andrew Goledzinowski, there is a lot of potential for cooperation between Vietnam and Australia. After the delegation's visit, the Australian Embassy is very interested in hearing the proposals of the Ministry of Information and Communications to design a cooperation program between the two sides.
