Green production

Mr. Nguyen Huu Chi, Director of the Production Engineering and Research & Development Department of Dong Lam Company, shared that in recent years, Dong Lam Cement Plant has invested in modern technology lines. In its design, the plant always focuses on applying technologies and equipment with low energy consumption, reducing NOx emissions, and using new generation TTF combustion chambers capable of using low-grade fuels and alternative fuels…

The plant has also invested in and put into operation a SNCR-based NOx removal system to improve the treatment of NOx emissions into the environment, and applied a waste heat recovery system for drying, grinding, and power generation. This significantly reduces energy consumption per ton of product, reduces excess heat emissions, and reduces fuel use; at the same time, the increased use of mineral additives to replace clinker helps reduce CO2 emissions.

Dong Lam Company also regularly develops and implements plans and programs to reduce the consumption of raw materials and energy. Every year, the company develops and implements a plan for energy saving and efficiency by changing input materials to minimize or eliminate increasingly scarce materials; at the same time, it also reduces the generation of toxic waste during the production process.

Furthermore, the campaign to "green" the entire campus and surrounding area of ​​the factory, creating a "green lung," contributes to minimizing environmental impact and realizing the goal of sustainable development. Recognizing this, from the very beginning of its construction, Dong Lam has considered greenery as a crucial element alongside modern technology. Not only in the workspace, but also the internal roads outside the campus, warehouse areas, and production corridors are covered with greenery, covering an area of ​​over 1.6 million square meters. In particular, the dense green belt of various tree species surrounding the factory has formed an ecological buffer, reducing noise and regulating the climate.

In the coming period, to optimize production and contribute to environmental protection, Dong Lam Company will accelerate research, evaluation, and further refinement of improvement programs and solutions to achieve the main goals in its green production and sustainable development strategy. Accordingly, the cement plant will continue to promote the use of renewable energy and alternative fuels, contributing to environmental cleanup and reducing the use of fossil fuels, reducing CO2 emissions, and gradually moving towards carbon neutrality in the future.

Sustainable development

The company recognizes corporate governance as a crucial foundation for long-term development. Currently, the management and operational systems are being progressively standardized, aligned with legal regulations and oriented towards transparency in production and business activities. Simultaneously, the company is strengthening the application of information technology in managing production data, monitoring quality, and providing periodic reports, thereby improving operational efficiency and transparency. Furthermore, the company continues to promote research, improvement, innovation, and the application of solutions to optimize operations and equipment, thereby increasing production efficiency and minimizing environmental impacts.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Chi affirmed that, within the supply chain, the factory proactively establishes criteria for cooperation with suppliers and partners, adhering to safety, quality, and social responsibility standards. This is the first step towards forming a sustainable value chain in the future. In the long term, the factory strives to gradually approach and apply modern management standards, enhance responsibility, and strengthen trust with customers, partners, and the community.

Dong Lam Company has also made many improvements, such as utilizing exhaust heat to dry the grinding mill, thereby reducing the operation of the auxiliary combustion chamber using DO fuel, thus reducing emissions and saving costs. They have implemented many pilot programs, most notably the introduction of technological additives, active mineral additives, granulated slag, and fly ash to improve cement product quality, reduce production costs, and protect the environment by reducing clinker use in cement, contributing to minimizing gas emissions, reducing the use of fossil fuels, and helping other industries treat waste and reduce environmental pollution.

In 2024, the company commenced construction and put into operation a power plant utilizing waste heat from the kiln's exhaust gases, with a capacity of approximately 8700kW, meeting about 30% of the factory's electricity needs.

To conserve and efficiently utilize water resources, and to reduce the cost of using clean water for production, the unit plans to implement the use of wastewater from the limestone quarry, treat it, and bring it back to the factory for reuse in production.

Dong Lam Company has also invested in additional automation and mechanization equipment, applying information technology to replace human labor, such as automatic bagging and packing machines, automatic baling machines, and automated delivery management systems, in order to free up labor and protect the health of its workers.
