(NLDO) - Authorities mobilized more than 300 people to control the forest fire.

According to initial information, at around 5:00 p.m. on March 4, a forest fire broke out in Bau village, Nam Pam commune, Muong La district, Son La province. Upon discovering the fire, the authorities mobilized over 300 people, including forest rangers, commune police, militia, mass organizations and people to implement fire fighting plans.

In accessible areas, forces actively cordoned off areas, created firebreaks, and limited the spread of fire to other areas.

Due to the complex terrain of the fire area, mainly high rocky mountains, difficult to access, and the time of the fire was dark, fire fighting was difficult. By the evening of the same day, the fire was still not under control.

Previously, at around 6pm on March 3, in Phong Lai commune, Thuan Chau district, Son La province, a fire also broke out in about 3 hectares of reed forest. The fire was extinguished the same evening.

Currently, Son La province is at high risk of forest fires. Localities need to deploy forces in areas at high risk of forest fires, monitor, grasp the situation, and be ready to fight forest fires. At the same time, carry out vegetation clearance, propaganda, and instruct people to follow regulations when clearing and burning fields, and prevent fires from spreading into the forest.
