The "Linh Phung" Ao Dai Festival evoked many emotions in the audience and visitors.

The program was attended by the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Thanh Binh, along with a large audience of domestic and international tourists.

According to Nguyen Phuoc Hai Trung, Head of the Content Committee of the Hue Festival 2024, the Ao Dai Festival is an annual event within the Festival. This year, the festival aims to continue honoring and affirming Hue's position as the capital of Ao Dai and to look forward to Hue becoming a centrally-governed city. The program creates opportunities to meet and showcase the beauty of Hue, while building and developing Hue's Ao Dai into a distinctive brand, thereby giving Hue's culture a new impetus. "We want to convey the message to the community that the traditional cultural values of the nation will forever endure," Mr. Trung said.

The artistic program is expressed through the language of fashion, music , singing, and dance, all with new arrangements and orchestrations.

Throughout the nearly 90-minute show, each performance and each collection of ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) was truly special. The designers drew creative inspiration from the "phoenix" motif in the architectural decorations and court costumes of the Nguyen Dynasty, combining the beauty of modern Vietnamese ao dai with the vivid story of the phoenix legend – the eternal symbol of beauty, grace, virtue, and happiness. The Ao Dai Festival was a unique artistic program, expressed through the language of fashion , music, singing, and dance, all with new harmonies and arrangements.

With a structure of three chapters, each chapter tells a story about the legend of the phoenix – one of the four mythical creatures. The phoenix's flight is depicted spreading its wings amidst auspicious clouds. The appearance of the phoenix heralds good fortune and happiness. According to legend, the phoenix only appears during prosperous times. The image of the phoenix is gentle and elegant, carrying profound and noble spiritual meanings. A hundred phoenixes bring good fortune. The image of a hundred phoenixes flying up together is seen as a symbol of the aspiration for a peaceful life and a prosperous dynasty...

The ao dai designs draw creative inspiration from the image of the "phoenix".

The program brings together 12 designers and brands from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hue, such as Vu Viet Ha, Quang Huy, Duc VinCie, Huu La La, Tran Thien Khanh, Quang Hoa, Viet Bao, Xuan Hao, Doan Trang, Cam Sa, La Mua, Ve Mien Huong Ngu… along with artists, singers, dancers; beauty queens, professional and amateur models, and extras.

Excited to watch the special art performance about the ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress), Ms. Xuan Huong (Hue City) expressed her admiration for the fresh and emotional presentation in the magnificent setting of the Song Huong Theater. “The designs inspired by the phoenix are very elegant, especially the details adapted from the patterns on ancient Nguyen Dynasty costumes. Each design conveys many messages about Hue's culture and beauty through the ao dai,” Ms. Huong said.
