ILA - A 30-year journey of sowing knowledge and sharing.

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - For the past three decades, ILA has steadfastly pursued its mission of contributing to building a foundation for Vietnamese children's education through practical and beneficial community activities, so that they can have a better learning environment.

On the morning of September 12th, the Giồng Nổi branch of Vĩnh Hải 4 Primary School in Vĩnh Hải commune, Cần Thơ city (formerly Vĩnh Châu town, Sóc Trăng province) was bustling with activity. The small school grounds seemed to brighten up with five spacious classrooms and a new restroom facility.

This project is part of the “Upgrading Giồng Nổi School” project initiated and implemented by ILA through the Light Up The Future Foundation, aiming to provide all children, even those in remote areas, with the opportunity to learn in a safe and bright environment.

This event is not just a charitable project, but a milestone in ILA's 30-year journey – a journey of persistently connecting knowledge with community responsibility, so that every step in education is always accompanied by sharing.

Trips and impressions

ILA's philanthropic journey can be likened to a memoir filled with cherished memories. For the past three decades, ILA has remained steadfast in its mission to contribute to building a foundation for Vietnamese children's education through practical and beneficial community activities.

In 2019, amidst the lush green fields of Tieu Can, Tra Vinh (now Vinh Long ), Tap Ngai C Primary School received a "new look." The Build A School campaign, with nearly 2 billion VND raised from parents, students, and ILA staff, created spacious classrooms for over 400 children. All of this conveys the message that every child deserves a safe and fulfilling path to knowledge.

Just a few years later, ILA continued its expansion into the mountainous region of Ha Giang (now Tuyen Quang). In the impoverished commune of Ngam La (now Mau Due commune), life was still very difficult, with children only getting to eat white rice once or twice a month. In that context, the Ngam La Ethnic Minority Primary School had its boarding facilities renovated to be more spacious and sturdy.

At the same time, more than 500 gifts including books, warm clothes, toothbrushes, school supplies, and essential items were also handed directly to the children. These simple gifts opened up a new world, sowing the seeds of belief that the children are not left behind, and that knowledge and kindness always go hand in hand.

In recent years, ILA has also focused on supporting infrastructure projects. In Nam Tra My, Quang Nam (now Da Nang city), where the Bieu stream was once a nightmare for the Xe Dang students, a 55-meter-long steel bridge replaced the rickety wooden bridge, creating a safe path so that the little ones can walk to school without fear.

At the same time, the C72 branch of Tra Cang Ethnic Boarding Primary School now has clean restrooms for the first time. The total cost for the two projects, along with 430 gifts for Tra Cang students, amounted to 450 million VND, a practical gift that shares the difficulties and nurtures the belief in going to school for the children in the highlands.

Continuing its goal of building auxiliary facilities to provide children with a civilized and safe environment, ILA has also invested in building a new toilet area at Giồng Nổi school, ensuring clean water for the children.

30 years - Knowledge goes hand in hand with sharing.

Over the past three decades, ILA has not only built internationally-standard education but has also quietly sown the seeds of knowledge in underprivileged areas. The journey of community service is not measured solely by donations or completed projects; its value lies in the radiant eyes of students as they enter their new classrooms, in the smiles of children in mountainous regions receiving warm clothing, and in the renewed hope in their young hearts.

For ILA, sustainable development is not just about achievements, but about spreading awareness, so that more lives are touched and more dreams are nurtured. And in Can Tho today, that footprint writes another chapter in its three-decade journey of perseverance: sowing knowledge, building the future.

Mr. Phan Thanh Nha, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Hai commune, shared: “Giong Noi Primary School has always been lacking in many aspects, so receiving support to upgrade the school facilities is especially meaningful. This is a great encouragement for the teachers, students, and local people. ILA's partnership has instilled more confidence that, even in remote areas, our children can still study in better conditions, nurturing their dreams and aspirations. This is also a motivation for the locality to strive to care for the future generation.”

For ILA, every brick, every notebook, every scholarship represents a commitment: Vietnamese children, wherever they are, deserve knowledge and opportunity. Thirty years have passed with many memorable milestones, but ILA's journey remains steadfast in its mission to build an educational foundation ready for the future, where knowledge and sharing go hand in hand.
