Will Intel manufacture chips for the iPhone?

This agreement could include at least some processors for iPhones, especially for non-Pro-branded iPhone models.

This change is expected to begin in 2028. Most likely, this processor will be manufactured using Intel's 14A process.

However, there is no information yet on what specific role Intel will play in designing the chips for the iPhone. It seems the company's involvement will be limited to manufacturing the processors, while Apple will remain responsible for chip design.

Essentially, Intel will share some of the work with Apple's existing partner, TSMC. According to PhoneArena , this is another effort by Apple to diversify its supply chain.

Collaborating with Intel for chip manufacturing is an optimal solution for performance and risk avoidance. This change could help Apple reduce pressure on TSMC and provide greater flexibility should global chip production face difficulties again.

This isn't the first time rumors have surfaced about Apple "reuniting" with Intel. Recently, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that Intel may begin manufacturing lower-end M-series chips for some Mac computers and iPads. This partnership is rumored to begin as early as 2027.
