According to ABC News, on March 1st, Iranian voters began going to polling stations to elect the 12th Parliament and the 6th Assembly of Experts.
More than 61 million of Iran's 85 million people are eligible to vote in this general election. Previously, the state-owned ISPA polling center released the results of a survey of 5,121 eligible voters, predicting a voter turnout of 23.5% in Tehran and 38.5% nationwide.
In this election, more than 15,000 candidates from various walks of life will compete for 290 seats in Parliament. A total of 144 candidates will compete for seats on the Assembly of Experts, which have an 8-year term. The election results are expected on February 2-3.
