Iran warns it is opening a new front in its retaliation against the US.

The Iranian military warned on May 19 that it would open new fronts to retaliate against the United States if Washington resumed attacks against the country.

Iranian military spokesman Mohammad Akraminia asserted that if the adversary takes aggressive action, Iran will open new fronts with new measures. According to him, Iran has used the ceasefire period to enhance its combat capabilities.

Furthermore, Akraminia affirmed that Iran will continue to manage the Strait of Hormuz, and stated that the US has few options other than to respect Iran and uphold the legitimate rights of the Islamic Republic.

The statement was made after US President Donald Trump announced the cancellation of a planned attack on Iran on May 19th, following requests from leaders of three Middle Eastern countries for him to "postpone" the attack.

Regarding diplomatic efforts to promote an agreement between the US and Iran, the Qatari Foreign Ministry emphasized on the same day that more time is needed for the mediation efforts that Pakistan is undertaking to facilitate dialogue between Tehran and Washington.

Qatar also expressed support for the diplomatic efforts being undertaken by Pakistan, demonstrating its seriousness in bringing the parties closer together and seeking a solution.
