Israel will intensify its attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon on the orders of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, despite the ceasefire agreement reached with Beirut last month and recently extended.

In a video posted on Telegram on the evening of May 25, Prime Minister Netanyahu declared that Israel is at war with Hezbollah and will intensify its attacks against the group. He said the Israeli army will not slow down its operations, but will intensify them even further.

Shortly after Netanyahu's announcement, the Israeli military announced it had attacked Hezbollah infrastructure in the Bekaa Valley and other areas of Lebanon. The Lebanese national news agency (NNA) reported that this announcement also prompted many people to flee the southern suburbs of Beirut, considered a major Hezbollah stronghold.

The escalating move was announced as Lebanon celebrated Liberation Day, marking the Israeli military's withdrawal from southern Lebanon after an 18-year occupation in 2000.

Prime Minister Netanyahu's order comes amid ongoing daily attacks on southern Lebanon. Earlier, Israeli attacks were reported in the Tyre and Nabatieh districts. In the town of Kfar Reman in the Nabatieh district, four people were killed and three injured in airstrikes.

Several attacks also targeted the al-Midan area in the city of Nabatieh, damaging residential buildings and a Shia Muslim community center. According to the NNA, Israeli aircraft dropped phosphorus munitions on forests in the urban area of ​​Qlailah, causing fires to spread to citrus orchards and farmland. Phosphorus munitions are flammable upon contact with oxygen, and their use in populated areas is widely condemned.

Lebanon's Public Health Ministry says Israel has killed 3,185 people since entering into open war with Hezbollah on March 2.

Earlier that day, the Israeli military announced that one soldier was killed in a drone attack in southern Lebanon. Another soldier was seriously injured in the same incident.

Following the attack, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Italian National Security Minister Ben-Gvir called for a resumption of intense airstrikes on Beirut to eliminate Hezbollah.
