Ending his journey at Anh trai “say hi”, besides increasing recognition, another success of JSOL is probably finding a style that he can stick with for a long time. In the previous years of steady activities, the male artist continuously changed both his music and image. However, through recent products, especially his first mini album OE OE , it is easy to see that JSOL seems to have decided to “stop” at a youthful, dynamic, and somewhat mischievous image.
OE OE is produced and composed mostly by Khac Hung - one of the musicians/music producers who has proven his ability after decades of working in Vpop. Before that, he also showed that he is very "lucky" with projects with youthful, mischievous colors, when he was the one who created This way (Cara), Nhu noi ruon (Bao Anh) or Ha phom (Hoang Thuy Linh)... And in OE OE , it was Khac Hung's hand that contributed to helping JSOL become more stable with its new image.
Easy listening, easy to access music
OE OE includes 6 songs - all with cheerful melodies and humorous, sometimes "senseless" lyrics, aiming to convey positive energy. Similar to the single " Gan Mat " released 2 months ago, most of the songs in this mini album use a lot of Y2K sound materials, with dance-pop or R&B pop rhythms, characterized by catchy, repetitive, easy-to-sing-along choruses.
The lead single Tinh Lai is the most outstanding song of this production style. Khac Hung shows his ingenuity in handling Y2K materials, bringing sounds that are both retro and trendy, especially the sharp, neat electronic drums. The fun rhythm of the funk genre makes the song more vibrant and mischievous.
Although the chorus is repeated many times, the constantly changing verses, combined with the constant interweaving of singing and rapping, keep the song from being too boring. The use of scratch sounds in HURRYKNG's rap also helps the song to have a strong Y2K hip hop atmosphere.

Khac Hung is the producer and composer of most of the songs in the album. |
Meanwhile, "Coil of Len" can be considered the catchiest song in this project. Composed by Hoang Ton, the song has a more R&B feel - which is known as the male musician's forte. The structure of "Coil of Len" is quite interesting, as it does not follow the traditional hit-making formula, but immediately makes an impression right from the start with rhythmic Pop/R&B melodies. JSOL's voice - which is not too dramatic, but sweet and emotional - is also well exploited.
The remaining songs such as Khong Phai Em, Khong Pha Ai or Biet Dieu all have a basic pop structure, are neat and easy to listen to. The music is simple and natural, with lyrics revolving around love and youth. Khac Hung mainly creates hooks with short, repetitive sentences, helping listeners easily remember the melody.
The entire lyrics in OE OE are developed in a playful, simple way, without any puzzles or depth. However, that is not too big of a problem when it fits the musical space that Khac Hung creates. However, many times the naivety, even the "laziness" in the composition has significantly affected the listening experience of the audience. For example, the way Khac Hung uses the sentence "Have you eaten yet, beautiful lady" in the opening part of Tinh laziness; or the pair of sentences "take me to the desert/ with musical notes", "on October 20th you will be given flowers, and on March 8th you will have gifts" in Genie sounds quite meaningless.
In fact, OE OE is also built quite safely, without many new experiments compared to the market. Most of the arrangements in the album are aimed at creating a product that is easy to listen to and catchy. Therefore, for audiences who expect a new musical experience, this project is difficult to satisfy.
In return, JSOL still creates sympathy thanks to the flexibility in his voice. His voice has a modern color, with a certain sweetness and warmth. When placed in the right musical material, JSOL fully demonstrates his ability: the singing is quite good and clear, while the rap is also handled neatly.
In addition, the album brings a consistent concept, creating a consistent listening experience. This helps the project have its own color, and at the same time easily reach the audience who have loved JSOL since Anh Trai "say hi".

Where is JSOL in the fight with his brothers?
JSOL released their debut album at a rather exciting time for Vpop. After Anh trai vu ngan cong gai ended, taking advantage of the audience's remaining interest, many artists in the program chose this as the time to release new products, including Jun Pham, Neko Le, Tien Dat... Mid-September also marked the return of Seachains and Rhyder, followed by Trong Hieu's 10-year anniversary EP.
Since its release, OE OE has not created a big impact on social networks or music platforms. The amount of discussion about the mini album is not too much. The lead single Tinh Lai had a rather gloomy start, reaching only about 340,000 views on the first day. The remaining songs in the album also stopped at more than 30,000 views.

OE OE started slow but kept picking up speed. |
However, perhaps thanks to hitting the right audience, the views of the MV and the songs continued to increase steadily and significantly in the following days. After a week, Tinh Lai has surpassed 1.7 million views, higher than Rhyder's Sau Con Say . The above number is also the highest among all recently released projects. The remaining songs are also approaching the 200,000 views mark - a relatively stable achievement compared to the average of songs in Vpop albums at present.
OE OE may not be a project that can sweep the music charts, the quality is not outstanding or too different from many Vpop products in the past year. However, for JSOL alone, defining a clear style for itself and having quite promising initial steps with that style, can be considered a remarkable achievement.
