The Hue Ancient Citadel Conservation Center, together with Comicola and Phygital Labs, has just launched an experience area and introduced the "Imperial Citadel Archaeological Chronicle" project. This project combines the cultural heritage values of the ancient capital of Hue with Nomion identification technology using NFC chips, opening up a promising direction for exploiting heritage values to develop the cultural industry.

Connecting the past and the present

Royal artifacts, once dormant in museums, are now being digitized using a "Nomion identification" solution combining RFID and blockchain technology. The story of cultural heritage and the treasures of the Nguyen Dynasty is vividly recreated, helping locals and tourists not only understand their historical value but also feel the connection between the past and the present.

In fact, projects of this type are common worldwide , especially in places with many historical sites and museums such as China, South Korea, Japan, Egypt, etc., helping to increase the connection with these sites. Technology in art also helps combine modern collecting hobbies with traditional values. Derived products from books, films, animations, etc., have opened up new creative trends, encouraging the exploration of national culture and history.

Recently, Comicola, a company specializing in supporting cultural products by young authors, launched a crowdfunding campaign for "Art Toy - The Film 'Cám'". This is the first art toy project based on a film character in Vietnam. With the goal of building an ecosystem for filmmaking, this is a reasonable approach, suitable to the current conditions, and will contribute to bringing Vietnamese films closer to world standards.

International Museum Day (May 18), with the theme "The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities," was recently celebrated, highlighting the constant movement of social life and the need for innovation in museums as cultural and educational institutions in the digital age.

Many museums in Vietnam have gradually transformed. Among them, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum is one of the pioneers in applying digital technology to its exhibitions and public services. With solutions such as the multimedia automatic commentary software (iMuseum VFA), 3D tours, and online exhibition spaces (VAES), the museum has provided visitors with more immersive and engaging experiences. Without the need for guides, visitors can easily choose their preferred language and access information about the artworks through images, audio, and video. Even those not physically present at the museum can "stroll" through the exhibition rooms and learn about Vietnamese art throughout different periods.

Meanwhile, the National History Museum combines artifacts and 3D projection technology, creating historical depth for each theme. The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology leverages its strengths in outdoor exhibitions, combining them with lively performances about the customs and traditions of ethnic communities.

In many localities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Ninh, Dien Bien, Da Nang, etc., museums are also proactively digitizing their archives to expand accessibility. These places have implemented QR code scanning to introduce artifacts, developed virtual tours with multilingual explanations, and more.

Opportunities and challenges

Technology does not diminish the original value of artifacts but contributes to telling stories in a more engaging way. Solutions applying virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), 3D modeling, interactive devices, digital maps, etc., are creating smart museums, gradually bringing the public closer to heritage.

According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Minh, Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, digital transformation is not only a way to keep up with trends but also an opportunity to spread heritage to a wider audience, especially young people. The vibrancy of digital exhibition spaces has contributed to bringing heritage closer to modern life.

Mr. Nguyen Huy, CEO of Phygital Labs, stated: "Phygital Labs aims to expand its technology solutions to numerous historical sites and museums nationwide to spread cultural values and raise awareness of national history. This will create a unique range of cultural products, connecting the younger generation with heritage through technology serving cultural values."

Some museums have begun offering apps for visitors to use, such as podcasts on Spotify or YouTube videos, providing more supplementary information about the works and artifacts.

Both an opportunity and a challenge, the technological advancements in art offer commensurate value. If art remains outside this game, it will be somewhat "out of sync" with global development trends.

Live stage performances have become an impressive trend in performing arts in Vietnam and around the world. Combining majestic natural settings, modern technology, and vibrant performances, this art form not only creates a unique artistic experience but also serves as a bridge bringing traditional culture closer to the audience.

Highlights such as "Memories of Hoi An," "The Quintessence of Northern Vietnam," and "Dance on the Clouds" all feature expansive stages, hundreds of performers, and meticulously designed lighting, sound, and background music systems. These performances are not simply about singing and dancing; they require seamless integration of stage effects with LED screens, fireworks, and even natural elements like water and fire.
