In Hai Phong City, the Mai Family Business Association of Vietnam recently held its first General Assembly, with the participation of nearly 400 businesspeople from across the country.

The Mai Family Business Association of Vietnam (formerly the Mai Family Business Club of Vietnam) is a community of businesses and entrepreneurs of the Mai family nationwide with the goal of: Cooperating and sharing information among entrepreneurs within the family lineage, thereby fulfilling the mission of "Connecting - Converging - Spreading" to promote cooperative relationships between businesses in the fields of economics , science and technology, contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.

The First Congress of the Mai Family Association of Vietnam was held on April 10, 2022. Over the past two years, the activities of the Mai family business community in Vietnam have increasingly affirmed their role and position within the national business community. The business community has developed in many aspects, engaging in diverse economic activities and meeting the demands of business development in the new era. Furthermore, the increasing number of newly established businesses has made a positive contribution to the economic development of localities and the country, creating jobs and contributing to the state budget.

Mr. Mai Huu Tin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of U&I Investment Joint Stock Company, and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Mai Family Business Association of Vietnam.

The entrepreneurs in the Association have also actively implemented the policies and guidelines of the Party and the State, upholding their responsibility as entrepreneurs to society.

Among the entrepreneurs surnamed Mai, there are names that have achieved glory both domestically and internationally, notably: Dr. Mai Huu Tin, founder of U&I Investment Joint Stock Company, a multi-sector investment company; Mai Kieu Lien, General Director and Board Member of Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company; Mai Xuan Thong, Chairman of Central Vietnam Construction Group; Mai Thu Huyen, film producer and director; and Mai Van Thuan, General Director of Asia Group - Ho Chi Minh City.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Mai Huu Tin, Vice Chairman of the Provisional Board of the Mai Family Business Association of Vietnam, shared: “With the spirit of building great goals, all Mai family businesspeople in Vietnam have united to develop strongly, steadily, and comprehensively. The Congress will determine the goals for the new term and approve the Charter on the organization and operation of the Mai Family Business Council of Vietnam. With a spirit of unity and construction, Mai family businesspeople nationwide will develop together.”

To further promote and enhance the role of the Mai family business community, at this Congress, the delegates elected an Executive Committee consisting of 45 businesspeople, and Mr. Mai Xuan Thang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hai Dang Tourism Group Joint Stock Company, was elected as Chairman of the Mai Family Business Association of Vietnam.

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Mai Xuan Thang, the newly elected Chairman of the Mai Family Business Association of Vietnam, stated: “On October 10, 2023, the Politburo issued Resolution 41-NQ/TW-2023 on building and promoting the role of Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the new era. On May 9, 2024, the Government issued Resolution 66/NQ-CP/2024 on the Government's action program to implement Resolution 41 of the Politburo. This serves as the basis for the Mai family entrepreneurs, along with the Vietnamese business community, to effectively implement Resolution 41-NQ/TW of 2023 of the Politburo “On building and promoting the role of Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the new era” and the Resolution of the First Congress of the Mai Family Association of Vietnam (Term 2022 – 2027).”

Within the framework of the Congress, delegates conducted a thorough assessment and review of the activities of the Mai Family Business Association of Vietnam over the past two years. Besides the positive aspects of its activities, the Association also pointed out the limitations of the Mai Family Business Associations at all levels nationwide. From this, it set new goals and directions for the development of the Mai Family business community in Vietnam during the 2024-2029 period.

For the 2024-2029 term, the Mai Family Business Association of Vietnam has chosen the theme "Connecting - Converging - Spreading," with the mission of strengthening unity, dynamism, and creativity, and enhancing the role and quality of activities of the Mai family business community. The goal is to develop a large, capable, and qualified Mai family business community in Vietnam that can contribute even more to the building of the country's economy and society.

The association has set a central task for its term: striving to build "Vietnamese Mai family entrepreneurs who are skilled in business, have a sense of responsibility and contribute to building a stronger and more prosperous Mai family in Vietnam."

45 businesspeople were elected to the Executive Board of the Mai Family Business Association of Vietnam at its first General Assembly.

According to Mr. Mai Xuan Thang, during the 2024-2029 term, the Mai Family Business Association of Vietnam will focus on implementing specific key tasks such as: Concentrating on innovating the content and methods of operation to gather a large number of Mai family businesspeople in Vietnam. Encouraging the business community to successfully complete their production and business tasks, contributing to the cause of national construction and development.

Strengthen coordination with businesses, especially those with regional and global reach, to attract entrepreneurs with integrity, vision, and talent to serve the nation and the Mai clan of Vietnam. Continue to promote cultural, social, and charitable activities, attracting a large number of members and entrepreneurs from the Mai clan to participate.

In addition, we will expand our external relations and international cooperation activities, promote training, career guidance, and entrepreneurship within the family lineage, and strengthen coordination and exchange with business associations in other provinces and cities nationwide.

The association also established the annual Mai An Tiêm Award, which aims to honor outstanding entrepreneurs of the Mai family who have made significant contributions to the country's economic development.
