Attending the forum were: Chairman of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry Pham Tan Cong; Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee Pham Duc An; Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong; Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hung Yen Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Le Huy; Vice Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Quan along with experts and representatives of Industrial Parks (IPs) and Economic Zones (EZs) of the provinces and cities.
With the theme: “Linking to promote the development of smart manufacturing supply chains”, experts will discuss solutions to promote smart manufacturing supply chains in sub-regional industrial parks, thereby opening up opportunities for industrial parks on the Eastern Expressway axis to effectively connect with the global smart manufacturing supply chain.
At this forum, the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry announced the “Eastern Expressway Sub-region Economic Report”. The Eastern Expressway Sub-region Economic Report comprehensively analyzes the economic situation, business environment, infrastructure, and sustainable development efforts of the VEHEC region; in recent years, the strategic importance of the region of four provinces and cities of Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hai Duong and Hung Yen has been enhanced, as the region is oriented to become a center of industry, logistics and green development, in line with national priorities for sustainable and inclusive growth.
Speaking at the opening of the forum, Chairman of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry Pham Tan Cong hoped that through the forum, the completion and development of the smart manufacturing supply chain in Vietnam in general and VEHEC in particular will be promoted, thereby affirming Vietnam's position in the international arena.
At the same time, the Chairman of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry believes that businesses attending this forum will find suitable partners to jointly create an on-site production network and promote regional, multi-regional and even global smart manufacturing supply chains.

Speaking at the forum, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong said that although the world situation has many fluctuations and the domestic economy has many difficulties, the sophistication and society of Hai Phong city continues to be stable and develop. The growth rate of the city's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) increased by 11.01% compared to 2023. The index of industrial production (IIP) increased by 15% compared to 2023, achieving the set annual plan.
Total budget revenue in the area in 2024 is estimated to reach over 116,300 billion VND, exceeding nearly 19% of the central budget estimate and 9% of the city People's Council's budget estimate. Jobs will be created for over 62,000 workers, an increase of 8.2% compared to 2023, equal to 107% of the annual plan (plan of 57,900 people). From January 2021 to present, attracting foreign investment in Hai Phong has grown remarkably, attracting an average of 3.6 billion USD/year, always in the top in attracting foreign investment.
In order for the Eastern Expressway economic linkage area to be able to anticipate the capital flow of multinational corporations in the coming time, Hai Phong city proposes and recommends to the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry and the provinces of Quang Ninh, Hai Duong, Hung Yen: Focus on strong investment in developing synchronous and modern infrastructure and promoting regional linkages in developing multimodal transport systems, increasing the quality of logistics services.
Proactively research and propose mechanisms and policies for the region to promote the potential and strengths of each locality in attracting investment with the orientation of developing green, sustainable industry and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Cooperate and promote the advantages of each locality in training high-quality human resources to meet the needs of production and business development in the region. Promote the formation of research and development centers, innovation and creativity in the Eastern Expressway economic linkage area, improve capital absorption capacity and the ability to participate in global smart production and supply chains.
