A forced, happy ending.

VTC NewsVTC News17/09/2023

The last two episodes of the series "Our Family Is Happy" unfolded quite quickly, with most of the time dedicated to reminiscing about the past. Many viewers even mistakenly thought the series ended at episode 55 because there seemed to be nothing left to watch.

The episode felt bland and forcedly satisfying. The entire episode lacked any climax or highlight, any surprises or plot twists, just details added to fill the airtime.

Notably, the boy Long is the character entrusted with the responsibility of concluding the film through his sharing at the graduation ceremony. The circumstances and lives of each character in the film are described and recreated perfectly.

"Little Long acted so well that the director didn't let him grow up. He remained exactly the same from 2nd grade to 5th grade," "Poor little Long, playing a 5th grader in 1st grade," "Long gave a grand speech but it didn't sound like a 5th grader's writing style," "The ending was so awkward," "Not letting Long grow up is a huge flaw," "The ending was bland and lacked spice" ... these are some of the comments from viewers.

Previously, some viewers commented that the "three years later" segment in episode 55 felt misleading. Specifically, the image of Cong (Quang Su) turned black and white. Following that was a scene of Mrs. Cuc's (NSND Lan Huong) entire family standing sadly before the altar.

"Cong doesn't like boiled chicken. He only likes sticky rice with mung beans," Phuong (Kieu Anh) said sadly as she walked past, looking at the altar.

"I think Cong is actually the luckiest one. The whole family serves him, he just has to eat when it's time," Ha (Lan Phuong) added. Just then, Cong came out of the room, carrying two babies in his arms. It turned out that the somber scene in Mrs. Cuc's family was actually the one-month celebration for Cong and Phuong's twins.

The plot twist, though seemingly unexpected, turned out to be illogical, forced, and ridiculously contrived. "The dialogue doesn't fit the situation at all; the screenwriter is truly out of ideas, deliberately trying to make the audience laugh but it's illogical and silly," "This scene is too forced. The idea is bland. On the day of the baby's birth ceremony, the whole family should be happy, not looking like they're attending a funeral."

"It's like they've run out of ideas and are forcing it to be funny," "I don't understand how the director and screenwriter could create an episode with such illogical plot points," "I don't understand what Công not liking chicken, only sticky rice with mung beans, has to do with the baby's one-month celebration ceremony..."

Additionally, some discerning viewers felt that the last two episodes were superfluous and deliberately drawn out, while Phuong's parents were not mentioned at all.

" The episode was superfluous; Phuong's parents appeared at the most dire moment, then the rest was completely hidden away, lacking any beginning or end," one viewer complained.

'Our family was unexpectedly happy': A forced, contrived happy ending - Part 2

Throughout the series, "Happy Family" has consistently failed to capture the audience's emotions. In the early episodes, the show received positive reviews for its humorous and engaging plotlines, along with a talented cast.

After a while, the film became bogged down in convoluted and dead-end plot points, such as the conflict between the couple Danh and Tram Anh, or the arguments between the married couple Thanh and Ha.

The tragic story of the couple Cong and Phuong, in particular, brought viewers to tears. A series of dramatic situations were rather forced and then resolved quickly and abruptly, like a "big beginning, small ending."

Because of its excessively long number of episodes, the series felt boring. Many viewers even declared they would stop watching or lacked the patience to watch until the final episode.

Despite being lengthy and rambling, the last two episodes paint a remarkably beautiful and fulfilling picture.

Some people exclaim, "Joy, sorrow, suffering, happiness—it's all as easy as a movie!" Proof of this is Phuong's three miscarriages and over 50 episodes of torment and longing for motherhood, only to suddenly have a child "three years later." Similarly, Cong, despite having stage 3 stomach cancer, lived a healthy life into old age and achieved career success.

Finally, the series, which lasted over half a year, has officially come to an end. Viewers exclaimed, "Thank goodness it's over. I was so impatient!" or others remarked, "This series is as long as 'Bride of 8 Years.' It should have ended a long time ago instead of saving time for other projects."
