Lan Phuong and her roles that gave viewers "goosebumps" and attracted millions of views

(Dan Tri) - From Dieu in "A Lifetime of Enmity" to Linh in "Wind Across the Blue Sky", Lan Phuong gives the audience "goosebumps" because of her ability to transform into her character.

Lan Phuong is considered a “chameleon” of the Vietnamese screen, because she can “carry” all kinds of roles, from positive to negative. The actress once shared that she really admires the talented actress Meryl Streep, who always reaches the depth of emotion in each role. Therefore, she always learns and improves every day to aim for that.

"I really like playing characters with psychological problems because it's difficult and interesting," Lan Phuong confided .

Directors Vu Truong Khoa and Trong Trinh both commented that every time Lan Phuong acts, she is "possessed", even a bit "crazy".

Linh "the third person" in "Wind across the blue sky"

In Wind Across the Blue Sky (Vietnamese version of 30 is not the end from China), Lan Phuong plays Linh, the third person who interferes in the marriage of Dang (Doan Quoc Dam) and My Anh (Phuong Oanh).

Her character is a woman with economy , experience, does not need a man to survive. She destroys other people's happiness not because of love but just to prove that she "won".

Linh's madness through Lan Phuong's acting is even more terrifying than the character Lam Huu Huu in the original. In the film, the scene where Linh meets My Anh is considered "the pinnacle of cunning". She clearly knows that she is having an affair with My Anh's husband, but still pretends to be innocent, making My Anh completely unsuspecting.

The half smile, the glance, the way Linh said “My Anh, My Anh is so happy, My Anh has everything”, all exuded arrogance and coldness. Many viewers commented: “Hate Linh so much that I want to smash the TV”.

When Dang wanted to end the relationship, Linh did not react loudly but spoke in a calm tone, but each word showed determination and desire for control.

Lan Phuong's performance in these scenes or the scene where Linh laughed happily when she saw My Anh discover her husband's betrayal made viewers choke with anger, attracting millions of views and thousands of comments.

Her deceitful, cunning and smug smile made the audience both scared and captivated. The audience had many compliments for Lan Phuong: "She acted so well in this scene, from her inner thoughts to her gestures and actions", "So good that it made me hold my breath", "I still feel impressed when I watch it over and over again"...

Many people commented that Linh had psychological problems, influenced by an incomplete family, with the clear purpose of causing trouble, not because she loved Dang.

Lan Phuong shared that she intentionally built the character Linh differently from the original to give the role more depth.

“Linh is not a weak “mistress”. She is strong, independent and destructive because she wants to prove that she is better than others. I want the audience to really hate Linh, but also find her scary because of her calculation,” she said.

In episode 43 of Wind Across the Blue Sky , which just aired, Lan Phuong's "possessed" acting once again made the audience "turn around".

Accordingly, Linh decided to leave and meet My Anh one last time to apologize and express her regret for being the cause that pushed Dang and My Anh's marriage to the brink of collapse.

What torments this character the most is the image of little Minh (My Anh and Dang's child) alone in the elevator with a suitcase when his parents broke up.

This moment haunted Linh and reminded her of her own traumatic childhood, when she lived in a broken family, her parents left one after another. Therefore, she could not forgive herself for putting another child in a similar predicament.

Faced with Linh's unexpected attitude, My Anh expressed sympathy and forgiveness. She hoped Linh could let go of her obsession and live more peacefully in the coming days.

The dialogue between the two women in this episode attracted more than 5 million views and hundreds of comments, causing the audience to simultaneously "turn around", stop criticizing and start praising Lan Phuong.

The actress's acting touches the viewers' emotions, helping them understand and sympathize with Linh - a girl who has suffered a lot of trauma and has psychological problems.

Heavy emotional scenes such as Linh sitting on the floor crying because of loneliness and humiliation or choking up while talking to herself in the elevator were commented by the audience as "top-notch" acting.

Many people left comments: "Lan Phuong acted as if she wasn't acting, I cried when watching this scene", "Even though I really hate Linh, I feel sorry for Linh in this scene", "Today's episode made me cry so much for Linh, I have to praise Lan Phuong for her acting so well"...

For her part, Lan Phuong hopes that the scene of meeting My Anh again will help the audience have a multi-dimensional perspective, understanding that Linh is not only blameworthy but also pitiful.

Lan Phuong also admitted that she was attacked and cursed a lot in the previous episodes. The actress shared mixed feelings when her acting convinced the audience, making them hate the character Linh, but also felt sad when many people equated her with the character.

Lan Phuong also revealed that the most impressive scene was in episode 40, when Dang was cornered and strangled Linh - this action was not in the script but was an outburst of Doan Quoc Dam. "That really shocked me, made me feel bitter for the character but at the same time made the following scenes more realistic", Lan Phuong shared.

Dieu - the crazy daughter-in-law in "A lifetime of grudges"

When mentioning Lan Phuong's impressive roles on the small screen, we cannot ignore Mai Dieu in A Lifetime of Enmity .

Mai Dieu is an orphan girl, growing up in solitude and gradually forming an ambitious personality, ready to use any means to achieve her goals. When aiming for the Vu family's huge fortune, Dieu disregards everything: From seemingly crazy actions, beating her husband, scolding her children to making sophisticated plans.

Dieu's calculations contribute to pushing the film's conflict to a climax and Lan Phuong's acting is highly appreciated for her ability to express complex psychology, flexible expressions, and portray a Mai Dieu who lives instinctively, is arrogant, selfish, and extremely scheming.

In part 2, the scene of Dieu fighting, screaming, smashing things and beating people made an even stronger impression on the audience. What is remarkable is that at the time these scenes were filmed, Lan Phuong was 4 months pregnant.

Actor Manh Truong once shared that he was “scared pale” when acting in the scene where Lan Phuong charged with a knife, because she acted so passionately. This role helped Lan Phuong win the Impressive Actress award at VTV Awards 2018.

The crew had to “pull scenes” so that the actress could finish her role early, but despite being pregnant, she still performed excellently in the scenes of screaming, smashing and writhing. Lan Phuong affirmed that Dieu in part 2 is many times “more terrifying” than part 1.

Lan Phuong’s performance as Dieu also received many compliments from the audience. One audience member commented: “Your performance is very good, the more people hate you, the more successful your role is.”

Another person shared: “Every time Dieu appears, the scene darkens and creepy music plays. Dieu stands from afar, dressed in black, with an old face and bulging eyes staring straight at the camera. It’s quite scary to watch.”

However, Lan Phuong emphasized that Dieu is not just a simple villain. This character has opposing sides and internal struggles: independent, self-reliant, and at the same time wholeheartedly loving Phong. She lost love because she was too passionate but selfish.

Lan Phuong said: “Dieu knows that she does not have a full start like others, so she always wants to find a way to get as much as possible to be happy and more respected. She does something wrong and frantically tries to fix it, but makes other mistakes.”

The roles of Linh in Wind Across the Blue Sky and Dieu in A Lifetime of Enmity are the clearest proof of Lan Phuong's talent and bravery.

She is not afraid to transform into villains with complex psychological depth, turning the hatred of the audience into a measure of success in her acting career.
