Opening Ceremony of the Hue Vegetarian Food Festival 2026

As part of the celebrations for the Buddha's Birthday (Buddhist calendar 2570) and the Hue Festival 2026, on the afternoon of May 28th, the Organizing Committee of the Hue Festival 2026, together with the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Hue City, held the opening ceremony of the Vegetarian Food Festival - Hue Festival 2026 at Nguyen Dinh Chieu pedestrian street, Thuan Hoa ward, Hue city.

According to Tran Huu Thuy Giang, Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, the Hue Vegetarian Food Festival 2026, now in its third year, is expanding in scale, attracting many hotels, restaurants, and temples to participate. It contributes to connecting the community through a spirit of sharing and compassion, and enriches Hue's cultural and tourism activities.

According to Mr. Tran Huu Thuy Giang, the city always cherishes cultural activities associated with community values, thereby contributing to building the image of Hue as a heritage city, a festival city, green, friendly, and humane. He also highly appreciated the role of the Social Charity Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Hue City in spreading the spirit of volunteerism, supporting those in difficult circumstances, and promoting the tradition of "mutual support and compassion."

Taking place over two days, May 28-29, the 2026 Vegetarian Food Festival aims to honor the traditional vegetarian culinary values of Hue while promoting a green, healthy lifestyle and a spirit of compassion and kindness within the community.

The event brought together 56 stalls offering approximately 100 vegetarian dishes from hotels, restaurants, and temples in and outside the city, serving over 5,000 visitors.

With its meticulous preparation, harmonious blend of flavors, colors, and nutrients, the festival offers locals and tourists many unique experiences of Hue's vegetarian cuisine.

This is not only a prominent cultural and tourism activity within the framework of the Hue Festival 2026, but also contributes to promoting the image of "Hue - the culinary capital," while introducing traditional cultural values associated with a philosophy of living virtuously, in harmony with nature and the community.

The Organizing Committee stated that all funding and contributions from the program will be used to carry out charitable activities, social welfare programs, and livelihood support for disadvantaged people, poor but studious students, and vulnerable groups in the area.
