Implementing the activities of Project 8 "Achieving gender equality and addressing urgent issues for women and children," the Yen Lap District Women's Union, in coordination with the Provincial Women's Union and the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, organized a program of free medical examinations, health consultations, and medication distribution for women and children in ethnic minority areas in Dong Lac commune in 2024.
Medical staff from the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital examined and provided consultations on some common illnesses to women and children of ethnic minority communities in Dong Lac commune, Yen Lap district.
During the program, 40 women members and 60 children from disadvantaged ethnic minority communities in Dong Lac commune received examinations and consultations from doctors and medical staff of the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital regarding common illnesses in internal medicine, surgery, respiratory diseases, blood pressure, and general abdominal ultrasound. They also received free medication, with the total value of the program exceeding 20 million VND. In addition, the community received nutritional advice and guidance on preventing common childhood illnesses during the winter season.
Sixty children from ethnic minority communities received free nutritional counseling and medication.
This is a meaningful activity implemented by the Women's Union at all levels in the province to care for the health of women and children in difficult circumstances in ethnic minority and mountainous areas of the province.
