With its pristine natural beauty and diverse ecosystem combining forest and sea, Cat Ba National Park is currently the most popular destination for nature exploration and tourism in Hai Phong. In 2004, Cat Ba National Park was recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve.

Cat Ba National Park is located on the Cat Ba Island xuyên-island road, Tran Chau town, Cat Hai district, Hai Phong city, about 30km south of the city center. It is one of the largest special-use forests in Vietnam and a world biosphere reserve. Currently, Cat Ba National Park preserves many marine ecosystems, terrestrial forests, mangrove forests, and rare plant and animal species.

Viewed from above, Cat Ba Island resembles a giant green carpet, full of mysteries and attractions. Cat Ba is Vietnam's third biosphere reserve, recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve, with a total area of over 26,000 hectares.

The islands generally have elevations ranging from 100 to 150 meters above sea level, with the highest point being Cao Vong Peak at 331 meters.
