Possessing pristine natural beauty and the traditional identity of the local people, the Trang An scenic complex was officially inscribed by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage site in 2014.

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex receiving this title, Ninh Binh will organize many activities from January to September 2024. The highlight will be the ceremony celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex being recognized by UNESCO, which is expected to take place in April.

Mr. Tran Song Tung, Vice Chairman of the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee, said that Trang An stands out with its majestic and magnificent natural landscape, along with its traditional cultural identity that has been preserved and passed down for thousands of years.

"This place also holds a wealth of information about the settlement traditions of humankind, the land and sea usage traditions of prehistoric people, with many cultures continuously evolving and lasting for more than 30,000 years."

"We are deeply aware that the Trang An heritage site is not only a treasure bestowed by nature, preserved and passed down through generations of Ninh Binh people to this day, but also a place where historical and cultural values ​​and fine traditions of the nation converge and crystallize," Mr. Tung shared.

Typical events to celebrate this significant milestone include: the 10th anniversary of the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex being recognized by UNESCO; an exhibition space showcasing archaeological artifacts and cultural values ​​of the province and the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex; the Ninh Binh Tourism Week - The Golden Colors of Tam Coc; and the National Tourism and Culinary Festival…


These events aim to honor the achievements and contributions of organizations and individuals in managing, preserving, and promoting the values ​​of heritage, spreading heritage values, inspiring enthusiasm and love for the homeland and national pride in the younger generation so that they understand, know, appreciate, and are proud of the historical Hoa Lu ancient capital, and the position and importance of the heritage to the nation, the people, and the world.

Specifically in January, the traditional Tet festival held in Hoa Lu ancient town will offer visitors many experiences in the traditional Tet atmosphere of the nation. This is also the opening event for a series of activities celebrating the 10th anniversary of its registration.

The Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex was officially inscribed by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage Site on June 25, 2014, based on three outstanding criteria: outstanding global cultural values; aesthetic values; and outstanding global geological and geomorphological values.

At the time of its UNESCO inscription, the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex was the 31st mixed heritage site in the world, the 11th in the Asia-Pacific region, and the first mixed heritage site in Southeast Asia.
