Delegates and experts shared and proposed many solutions to help Khanh Hoa's tourism sector achieve breakthroughs in the coming period.

"For tourism to truly play a growth-driving role, the issue is not just about increasing the number of tourists or revenue. The core issue is restructuring the tourism development model towards high quality, sustainability, and the ability to spread its benefits."

"This requires a holistic approach, from developing specialized products, upgrading the value chain, attracting strategic investment, developing high-quality human resources, promoting digital transformation, to ensuring harmony between economic growth, resource conservation, and preserving cultural identity," Mr. Suong shared.

At the workshop, delegates heard many important presentations on strategies for diversifying tourism development, making tourism a new growth pole; perfecting institutions and policies to develop tourism into a key economic sector; the role of Khanh Hoa in the national growth pole network and the orientation to elevate it to become a leading destination in Southeast Asia.

The discussions also focused on developing marine and island tourism in Khanh Hoa province, linked to resource management and marine ecosystem conservation… In a presentation at the workshop themed “Improving institutions and policies for tourism development to become a key economic sector - Khanh Hoa's practical experience compared to the whole country,” Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Social Affairs, Ta Van Ha, emphasized: Khanh Hoa plays a central role in Vietnam's marine and island tourism with its unique ecosystem and resources, and the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa brand has been established internationally. However, the development process still faces many institutional obstacles, overlapping laws in marine and island resource management; limitations in decentralization and a lack of mechanisms for new types of tourism.

Experts contributed their opinions at the workshop.

Accordingly, Mr. Ta Van Ha suggested that Khanh Hoa province should proactively propose pilot models, ranging from bay space management and the development of high-end resorts to specialized tourism services such as medical tourism and cruise tourism; focusing on developing three strategic areas: Nha Trang - Cam Ranh - Van Phong; leveraging advantages in infrastructure, marine and island resources, and international brand, aiming to build Khanh Hoa into an international marine and island tourism center. In addition, attention should be paid to developing training centers to provide high-quality tourism human resources, acting as a driving force for tourism growth in the South Central region and the entire country; and simultaneously becoming an attractive destination for international tourists and strategic investors.

Miss Vietnam 2024 Ha Truc Linh shared her thoughts at the conference.

Also at the conference, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, Ha Van Sieu, affirmed that, with its strategic location and diverse tourism resources, Khanh Hoa has a historic opportunity to become a national growth pole and rise to the top group of destinations in Southeast Asia. To achieve this goal, Khanh Hoa needs to focus on important aspects such as adjusting the planning for the construction of modern tourism infrastructure, especially seaports; developing diverse, unique, and non-repetitive products, especially high-quality, creative, and experiential products; and improving market access capacity and applying technology to create breakthroughs in tourism development in the coming period. Khanh Hoa must strive not only to be a center of coastal tourism in Vietnam, but also to become a modern coastal urban destination in Southeast Asia in the next decade.

Opinions at the panel discussion unanimously agreed that Khanh Hoa possesses exceptionally favorable conditions to become a national and international tourism center; tourism must be positioned as a key economic sector, playing a role as a growth pole to spread and lead other economic pillars. The period from 2025 to 2030 is identified as a decisive time for Khanh Hoa to make a breakthrough and transform itself strongly. Tourism development needs to go hand in hand with modern planning, smart management, resource conservation, and improved service quality.
