Survey on planting large timber trees in Tuan Son commune, Huu Lung district.

- On January 21st, the Ethnic Affairs Committee of the Provincial People's Council conducted a survey on the results of implementing the targets for developing the planting of large timber trees and medicinal plants under the forest canopy in the 2021-2025 period according to Plan No. 164/KH-UBND dated July 26, 2021 of the Provincial People's Committee; and the results of implementing several projects on developing the planting of large timber trees and medicinal plants under the forest canopy in the 2021-2025 period in Tuan Son commune, Huu Lung district.

The survey team discussed several issues related to the advantages and disadvantages of planting large timber trees in Tuan Son commune.

During the program, the delegation surveyed the model of planting large timber trees (acacia) and native trees (Dalbergia tonkinensis, Dalbergia cochinchinensis, Dipterocarpus spp., etc.) in Tuan Son commune and also surveyed the forestry seedling production and business facility of Cuu Long Lang Son One-Member Limited Liability Company in Huu Lung commune.

For Tuan Son commune, during the period 2021-2025, the People's Committee actively directed, propagated, and mobilized the people to switch from small-scale timber production to large-scale timber plantations to enhance the economic value of forests and develop forestry in a sustainable direction. By the end of 2025, the area of large-scale timber plantations in the commune will be 50 hectares, mainly consisting of acacia and native trees.

In Huu Lung commune, the leadership and guidance have been strengthened by incorporating the development of large timber forests into annual resolutions and work programs. The total area of large timber trees planted in the commune by the end of 2025 will be 15 hectares (mainly acacia and eucalyptus), formed through new planting and conversion from small timber forests.

The delegation conducted a field survey at Cuu Long Lang Son One-Member Limited Company, Huu Lung commune.

For Cuu Long Lang Son One-Member Limited Company (Huu Lung commune), this is a unit that supplies many forestry tree seedlings using plant tissue culture methods for timber reforestation and environmental remediation. During the period 2021-2025, the company maintained stable production and business of forestry tree seedlings, with the output of seedlings leaving the nursery increasing from 5 million trees (2021) to 41.5 million trees (2025).

During the survey, after hearing a general report on the planting of large timber trees from the People's Committee of Tuan Son commune, Huu Lung district, and related units, the members of the working group of the Ethnic Affairs Committee of the Provincial People's Council discussed several issues related to: leadership, direction, and organization of implementation; forest development; results of planting large timber forests; the situation and results of implementing support policies; and building a product consumption chain…

The survey program aims to help the working group understand the actual situation regarding the advantages, difficulties, and obstacles in implementing the targets for developing large-timber tree planting in the 2021-2025 period; identify existing shortcomings and limitations, and propose solutions for overcoming them in the future.
