As reported by Nhan Dan Newspaper, on September 2, a group of young people in Buon Ma Thuot Ward, Dak Lak Province invited each other to Crocodile Lake, Ea Wer Commune to have fun. At around 3 p.m. the same day, one of the young people in the group unfortunately fell into the lake. Seeing this, two people who were with him jumped in to rescue him, but unfortunately all three went missing in the deep lake.

By 6:00 p.m. on September 2, authorities had found one victim and continued searching. By the morning of September 4, authorities had recovered the bodies of the remaining two victims and handed them over to their families for funeral arrangements.
