Developing green and sustainable industries.

Thang Long Vinh Phuc Industrial Park is considered a model industrial park, prioritizing the attraction of high-tech and environmentally friendly projects.

With its vast territory and diverse resources, Phu Tho province has identified industry as a key breakthrough sector, creating momentum for growth, making a significant contribution to the budget, and boosting other sectors. However, instead of rapid, uncontrolled development, the province has chosen a sustainable path: building green, eco-friendly industrial parks, considering this a crucial criterion for attracting foreign direct investment (FDI). In fact, in the current development trend, FDI investors increasingly prioritize social responsibility, environmental factors, and sustainable development. Therefore, the orientation towards developing green industrial parks has helped Phu Tho quickly become an attractive destination for domestic and foreign investors. Many mechanisms and policies prioritizing clean land allocation, administrative reforms, and selective investment projects have been implemented; at the same time, the province resolutely rejects projects that pose a risk of environmental pollution.

Furthermore, Phu Tho province consistently supports leading businesses in the supply chain, promoting innovation and implementing emission reduction solutions. Examples include the Vinh Phuc ICD Logistics Center project, envisioned to become Asia's first net-zero emission inland port by 2040; and Honda Vietnam's support for supporting businesses in adopting green production technologies. These are clear examples of the province's vision for sustainable industrial development.

One prime example is the Thang Long Industrial Park in Vinh Phuc, invested in by the Sumitomo Group (Japan). Covering an area of 213 hectares, the Thang Long Industrial Park has completed both phases, attracting 41 projects, of which 29 are already operational. Notably, 20% of the industrial park's area is dedicated to green spaces, lawns, and water features, creating a harmonious ecological landscape. In addition to green infrastructure, the Thang Long Industrial Park also features factory space for lease to serve high-tech companies such as Toto, Daiwa, and Tsuchiya; and a commercial service area to support secondary investors. When fully occupied, the industrial park is expected to house approximately 70 projects, creating jobs for 20,000 workers. The success of the Thang Long Industrial Park not only affirms Phu Tho's attractiveness but also opens up prospects for building more model industrial parks.

Following the expansion of its administrative boundaries, Phu Tho province has 32 planned industrial parks, of which 16 are already operational, creating stable jobs for hundreds of thousands of workers and contributing up to 90% of the province's total budget revenue. In the first seven months of 2025, the province attracted $651.7 million in FDI, including 35 new projects and 45 projects with increased capital. This is an impressive figure, demonstrating Phu Tho's attractiveness amidst increasingly fierce competition for investment among localities.

In addition to industrial development, many large-scale projects in urban development, tourism, and services have been launched, such as the Cuoi Ha cable car system, Serena Resort, and the Viet Tri golf course project worth over 1,000 billion VND. This shows that Phu Tho is undergoing a strong transformation, moving towards a multi-sectoral, multi-pillar economy, while remaining steadfast in its commitment to green industry as the foundation for development.

According to Mr. Hoang Long Bien, Head of the Provincial Industrial Parks Management Board, developing green industries is the "key" to attracting strategic investors in the coming period. He emphasized: "We clearly define our responsibility not only in developing synchronous and modern industrial park infrastructure, but also in creating a sustainable investment environment, linking economic growth with environmental protection. The Provincial Industrial Parks Management Board will continue to accompany businesses in every stage, from land clearance and investment procedures to operational support, aiming to build Phu Tho into a destination for high-tech, environmentally friendly projects."

To realize its double-digit growth target in 2025 and beyond, Phu Tho province is resolutely addressing bottlenecks in industrial development. Key issues include land clearance, land valuation, and securing sources of fill material. The provincial government has provided close guidance, requiring relevant departments and localities to coordinate closely, accelerate progress, and support investors. Furthermore, the province is promoting administrative reform and applying digital technology in handling investment, construction, and fire safety procedures, creating maximum convenience for businesses. Simultaneously, the province encourages the development of renewable energy, the application of clean technologies, and the reduction of emissions, prioritizing high-value, low-pollution industries.

In particular, to attract large corporations, Phu Tho focuses on developing synchronous infrastructure both inside and outside industrial parks, building an ecosystem of supporting industries and science and technology services; and paying attention to training high-quality human resources to meet the requirements of large corporations. In the context of shifting global supply chains, Phu Tho is facing a golden opportunity to attract green FDI. By leveraging its geographical advantages, regional transportation infrastructure, and open policies, the province has the chance to become a green industrial hub in the Northern Midlands and mountainous region.
