When the forest and the sea meet

During his working visit to Lam Dong province on June 9, 2025, General Secretary To Lam emphasized: "History is giving the new Lam Dong province an unprecedented opportunity for development"... With its advantages in scale, resources, geographical location, and development orientation, the new Lam Dong is standing at the threshold of an unprecedented period of prosperous development; especially its diverse and unique tourism potential from the border to the islands, from the mountains to the coast... And above all, Lam Dong is forming a forest-sea region in its soul, a forest-sea of intrinsic strength, a forest-sea of integration and harmony...

WHEN THE OCEAN'S WAVES JOIN THE PINE TREES

Lam Dong and Binh Thuan provinces established a strategy many years ago to maximize the unique tourism potential of both localities, creating a "one journey - two destinations" tourism product connecting the sea and flowers, which is highly complementary and attractive. This link has been built and strengthened over the years, but in the context of "new Lam Dong" and the development of the transportation infrastructure system, the journey connecting the sea and flowers is becoming even stronger and promises to break through, with a space stretching from the border to the islands. As the province with the largest area in the country, tourists now not only come to Da Lat to admire the mist, flowers, and green pines... through various types of tourism including resort, ecological, high-tech agricultural , and community tourism to explore the distinctive cultural features of the region...; to Phan Thiet to swim and experience activities on the water or sandy beaches; to Dak Nong to explore the topography and geomorphology of the UNESCO Geopark... Furthermore, there is the opportunity to experience a rare diversity of tourism products, with many 5-star resorts, luxury resorts, and unique boutique hotels. Along with that are many distinctive events: Flower Festivals, cultural and tourism festivals, beach festivals, etc., world-class golf courses, integrated entertainment complexes, and high-quality healthcare services that are currently seeking investment.

Previously, everyone knew Lam Dong's coastline as nothing more than a vast "sea of clouds" when standing on the summit of Lang Biang, the azure waters of Tuyen Lam Lake reflecting the blue sky, and the undulating artificial waves in the Prenn Tourist Area… And from now on, Lam Dong will be known for the expansive Binh Thuan coastline, stretching over 190 km; distinguished by its diverse topography and landscape, creating a rich and captivating natural tapestry of many beautiful, calm beaches with fine sand and clear blue water, such as Mui Ne, Hon Rom, Bai Rang, Ke Ga, La Gi… ideal for swimming and relaxation. The most distinctive and unique sand dunes of Binh Thuan include: the Flying Sand Dunes (red sand dunes) and Bau Trang (white sand dunes), whose constantly changing shapes create a desert-like landscape, attracting tourists to participate in sandboarding, off-road motorcycle riding, and photography. The pristine, undulating cliffs and rock formations in Vinh Hao and Binh Thanh create a unique, wild, and majestic landscape; and Ke Ga Cape with its ancient lighthouse is also a highlight formed from rock.

The journey from the border to the green islands is no longer far, as Lam Dong has become even more unique by creating a three-tiered ecological symphony of plateau - midland - coastal; a resource that fully develops various types of tourism terrain suitable for experiential and exploratory journeys… lasting not just 2-3 days but potentially 2-3 weeks from the border to the islands, from the plains to the mountains. Not only are there the romantic Prenn, Ba Nui, Xuan Huong Lake, Tuyen Lam, Dam Bri, and Pongour in Lam Dong; Binh Thuan is still famous for its Phu Quy Island, Cu Lao Cau, Hon Ba La Gi… striving to preserve its diverse marine ecosystem and many valuable seafood species; Dak Nong – home to the 4,760 km² UNESCO Global Geopark, spanning the districts of Krong No, Cu Jut, Dak Mil, Dak Song, Dak G'long, and Gia Nghia… boasts outstanding values including a system of nearly 50 caves with a total length of over 10,000 m, volcanic craters, waterfalls, archaeological sites, and the region's unique biodiversity. All of these are converging to create a bright new face for the land of Lam Dong .

THE MAIN ROAD HAS OPENED FOR HARMONY AND PROSPERITY

The newly developed intra-provincial transportation infrastructure in Lam Dong is being synchronously connected, not only making it easier for tourists to access Lam Dong but also creating favorable conditions for building tours linking destinations in other regions. In addition, the policy of restoring and developing the Da Lat - Thap Cham railway line aims to create a unique tourism product with high nostalgic and experiential value; and at the same time, develop tours linking with other famous destinations in Vietnam and the region, such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Hue, Cambodia, Thailand…

Lam Dong is now not just the southernmost point of the plateau, but is becoming a strategic crossroads linking the Southeast region, the South Central coastal region, and Cambodia… Lam Dong tourism has transformed from a “sealess city” into a green transit hub for tourists from Nha Trang and Vung Tau heading to the plateau. Lam Dong agriculture not only produces flowers, vegetables, coffee, pepper, cashew nuts, macadamia nuts, durian, and avocado; but also dragon fruit and grapes… Lam Dong not only has forests as a green carbon resource, but also a sea as a gateway for exporting high-tech agricultural products… Today, Lam Dong is home to all 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam, from the Kinh to the M'nong, Ede, Raglai, Cham, K'Ho, Ma, and Churu… each with their own unique identities, creating a colorful cultural tapestry, rich in cuisine, and traditional art, all working together to protect the forests, the airspace, and the sea, and to build and develop their homeland.

“History is bestowing upon Lam Dong province unprecedented potential, resources, and opportunities for development. Therefore, it is necessary to seize these opportunities, have the right strategy to transform these opportunities, resources, and advantages into concrete development results, and improve the lives of the people.” As General Secretary To Lam affirmed, forests and seas are no longer distant, but are being connected by infrastructure, inter-regional ecotourism, and a green economy; and above all, by investment in the right direction, with a strategic vision, and the unity of the government, businesses, and people. Lam Dong has the potential to break through and become a model of development in the near future.
