This is one of 250 projects started and inaugurated nationwide to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

Mr. Duong Duc Hien, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, said that the total investment of the project is 3,443 billion VND. The project starts at Km0+000, intersecting with National Highway 32, and ends at Km7+773, connecting with the traffic route from the Red River Left Dike to Van Phuc Bridge (Phu Tho Province), with a total length of 7.77 km. The route is designed according to the standards of a grade III plain road, with a design speed of 80 km/h.

Along with hundreds of projects inaugurated and started across the country on the morning of August 19, the Van Phuc Bridge construction investment project across the Red River and the connecting road to National Highway 32 was started.

Of which, the connecting route from Van Phuc Bridge to National Highway 32 is 4.81 km long, 32 m wide, with 6 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for non-motor vehicles. Van Phuc Bridge has a total length of 2.97 km, including an overpass over Van Coc Lake, an approach bridge and a main bridge over the river; 20.5 m wide, ensuring 4 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for non-motor vehicles.

“Under the close direction of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, the Project Management Board, together with departments, branches and local authorities, urgently coordinated to deploy investment preparation work and hand over the site to start construction on schedule on August 19,” said Mr. Duong Duc Hien.

For the people living along the Red River, Van Phuc Bridge is a traffic project of special significance. Mr. Le Van Thu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Loc Commune, was moved to say that many generations of people have been waiting for the day this bridge was started.

The Red River has nurtured our lives, but it is also a barrier to transportation, economic development and connection with neighboring Phu Tho province. Therefore, today's project is not simply about building a bridge or a road. This is a symbol of connection, a path opening up a new future, helping the commune develop its socio-economy, worthy of being the Northwest gateway of Hanoi," said Mr. Le Van Thu.

The commune leaders also thanked the people for their agreement, quickly handing over the site, showing a high sense of responsibility, and creating favorable conditions for project implementation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Chief of Office of Hanoi People's Committee Vo Tuan Anh highly appreciated the efforts of the Project Management Board, construction units and local authorities during the preparation process. He emphasized that this is a key infrastructure project, of strategic significance in regional connectivity and economic development.

Deputy Chief of Office of Hanoi People's Committee Vo Tuan Anh spoke at the ceremony.

“Investors and contractors need to focus maximum resources and equipment to organize urgent, scientific and safe construction. The implementation must strictly comply with legal regulations, fully meeting the requirements on quality, technique and aesthetics. The project needs to be completed on schedule, contributing to realizing the goal of sustainable development of the capital”, Mr. Vo Tuan Anh emphasized.

According to the plan, the Van Phuc Bridge Project across the Red River and the connecting route to National Highway 32 is expected to be completed and put into use in 2027. At that time, not only will it shorten travel time and reduce traffic pressure, the project will also contribute to expanding development space, connecting Hanoi with Phu Tho and the northern midland and mountainous provinces.

With its strategic location, the project is expected to become an important driving force for the development of the Northwest region, contributing to the formation of a modern inter-regional transport network. In the future, Van Phuc Bridge, together with new routes, will form an important connecting axis, making the Northwest region of Hanoi a dynamic trading gateway.
