Construction begins on the 3.9 trillion VND Phan Thiet Airport Project.

On April 27th, Lam Dong province, in collaboration with Sun Group , solemnly held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Phan Thiet Airport Project – Civil Aviation component. This is the first civil airport in Vietnam.

The Phan Thiet Airport project – Civil Aviation component – ​​is being invested in according to 4E airport standards, with a designed capacity of 2 million passengers per year by 2030, and a total investment of nearly 3,900 billion VND. Upon completion, the project will meet the increasing travel needs of the people, tourists, and the business community; while also creating conditions to attract investment, develop trade, services, and high-quality tourism .

Speaking at the event, Mr. Tran Hong Minh, Minister of Construction, highly appreciated the decisive leadership of the provincial leaders, the strong involvement of Sun Group, and congratulated the groundbreaking ceremony of the Phan Thiet Airport Project – Civil Aviation Section. This is a particularly significant event, not only for the people of Lam Dong province, but also for the South Central region and the strategic infrastructure development nationwide.

Affirming that today's groundbreaking ceremony demonstrates the determination of provincial leaders throughout the years, and is a meaningful moment long awaited by leaders and people for this land rich in tourism potential, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh requested Lam Dong province to prepare the necessary conditions now so that Phan Thiet Airport can operate at its highest efficiency upon completion.

Mr. Ho Van Muoi, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, respectfully thanked the Government, the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Construction, and other central ministries and agencies for their continuous attention and support throughout the preparation and implementation of the project. He also expressed his sincere gratitude to the investor, consulting units, and the dedicated and responsible staff, engineers, and workers who ensured the project was ready for commencement today.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi affirmed that the groundbreaking ceremony for Phan Thiet Airport is of special importance, marking a new step in the strategy of completing transportation infrastructure, expanding development space, and enhancing the competitiveness of Lam Dong province in the new period.

The Phan Thiet airport project commenced construction less than five months after the investment policy was approved in December 2025, and less than two months after the investor was approved on March 4, 2026. This is a testament to Lam Dong province's efforts in decisively implementing administrative procedure reforms and closely coordinating with the investor.

With that spirit, Lam Dong province will continue to decisively direct relevant departments, agencies, and localities to enhance responsibility, proactively coordinate, focus on resolving difficulties and obstacles, minimize processing time, and create the most favorable conditions for the project to be implemented smoothly and on schedule.

For investors and construction units, it is requested that they demonstrate the highest level of responsibility, mobilize sufficient financial resources, human resources, machinery, and equipment; organize construction scientifically and professionally, ensuring the progress, technical and aesthetic quality of the project, labor safety, and environmental hygiene; and strive to complete the project as soon as possible to put it into operation and serve the people and the business community.

Lam Dong province also hopes that the Government, the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Construction, and other central ministries and agencies will continue to pay attention to, accompany, and support the locality throughout the project implementation process; and promptly consider and resolve any difficulties and obstacles that arise so that the project can be implemented smoothly and effectively.

On the local side, Lam Dong province is committed to always working alongside ministries, agencies, units, and investors, considering the progress and success of the project as a shared responsibility of the province; proactively coordinating and promptly handling matters within its authority, creating the best conditions for the project to be completed soon and to maximize investment efficiency. From now on, the province will direct investment promotion and flight connection efforts, ensuring that Phan Thiet Airport will have its first flights upon inauguration.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi emphasized that the Phan Thiet Airport Project – Civil Aviation Section – is not only a transportation infrastructure project, but also a symbol of the belief, aspiration for development, and determination of Lam Dong province to make breakthroughs in the new era. Upon completion, new flight routes will be opened, new development spaces will be formed, and the potential for tourism, trade, services, and investment attraction in the eastern part of the province will be strongly unlocked.

Representing Sun Group, Mr. Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of the Board of Directors, pledged to focus maximum resources to complete and put the project into operation in 2027.
