VSIP project groundbreaking - adding resources for sustainable development to Ha Tinh

Delegates visit VSIP Ha Tinh Industrial Park model.

On the morning of June 25, the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province coordinated with Vietnam Singapore Urban and Industrial Park Development Joint Stock Company (VSIP) to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the Bac Thach Ha Industrial Park Infrastructure Investment, Construction and Business Project.

Attending the groundbreaking ceremony were Mr. Tran Hong Ha - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Jaya Ratnam - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Vietnam; Mr. Tran Tien Hung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Inspection Commission ; leaders and former leaders of central departments, ministries and branches; diplomatic agencies, international organizations; leaders of several provinces and cities across the country; representatives of shareholders Sembcorp, VSIP Group, VSIP Ha Tinh Company Limited; domestic and foreign investors...

On the side of Ha Tinh province, there were comrades: Hoang Trung Dung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Tran The Dung - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Vo Trong Hai - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; former leaders of the province; members of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Standing members of the People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee of the province, National Assembly Delegation of the province; representatives of leaders of departments, branches, enterprises and localities.

The investment project to build and operate infrastructure of Bac Thach Ha Industrial Park was approved in principle for investment according to Decision No. 1003/QD-TTg dated August 29, 2023 of the Prime Minister .

The project is invested by Vietnam Singapore Urban and Industrial Park Development Joint Stock Company. The total investment of the project is over 1,555 billion VND. The land use scale of the project is 190.41 hectares, located in the two communes of Thach Lien and Viet Tien of Thach Ha district.

VSIP Ha Tinh is designed to become a green, modern and sustainable industrial park with optimal infrastructure standards. The project is expected to attract investors in the fields of electricity and electronics, semiconductors, precision mechanics, garments, footwear, energy, electric vehicle batteries, metals, auto parts, food processing, factories for rent and many other fields. Thereby, contributing to the sustainable development of the industry, making a positive contribution to the socio-economic development of the province.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Tan Cheng Guan - Executive Vice President of Sembcorp Industries Group - representative of the investor of VSIP Ha Tinh project emphasized: "Since the first industrial park was established in 1996 in Binh Duong province, VSIP has been successful in replicating the model of exemplary industrial, urban and service complex across 13 provinces and cities of Vietnam.

Ha Tinh province is emerging as a new industrial hub in the region. We believe that VSIP Ha Tinh plays a key role as a catalyst and driving force to achieve the goals that Ha Tinh has set out in the Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050. With the support of authorities at all levels from central to local levels and the support of the people, VSIP is committed to bringing about quality and sustainable growth."

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Jaya Ratnam - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Vietnam affirmed: "VSIP Industrial Park will always be a model for the good friendship between Vietnam and Singapore. I hope VSIP Ha Tinh will play a role as a hub to encourage and promote more and more high-quality investment projects from Singapore to Ha Tinh province. The Singapore Business Federation will work with the Ha Tinh provincial government to connect investment opportunities for businesses from Singapore."

Mr. Jaya Ratnam - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Vietnam spoke at the project groundbreaking ceremony.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Vietnam emphasized: "We highly appreciate the role of the leaders of Ha Tinh province; their vision and determination to improve the investment and business environment have contributed to attracting the attention of foreign investors to the province.

The Singaporean government can support Ha Tinh province in human resource development through scholarships for Vietnamese students to study in Singapore. At the same time, support capacity building in a number of areas for the Ha Tinh provincial government, especially in new development areas such as green economy and digital transformation."

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai emphasized: For Ha Tinh, the VSIP project marks a breakthrough in attracting investment, developing industry in depth associated with the goal of green growth and sustainable development; contributing to increasing budget revenue, strengthening internal resources for investment and development; creating jobs and ensuring social security for the locality.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai affirmed that in the coming time, Ha Tinh will continue to create an investment environment; exploit potentials and advantages, mobilize resources to upgrade infrastructure, create a foundation to attract and effectively implement investment projects in the area. Ha Tinh commits to closely coordinate with investors, create the most favorable conditions, and resolve procedures as quickly as possible so that the project can be completed on schedule.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested investors and contractors to mobilize maximum resources to implement the project to ensure safety, quality and progress; actively coordinate with the province in vocational training, job creation, and stabilizing the lives of local workers; effectively carry out investment promotion work, attracting businesses to the industrial park in accordance with the development orientation.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha affirmed: "This is not only an important event promoting the industrialization and urbanization process, turning Ha Tinh into a modern, sustainably developed industrial province, but also a vivid demonstration of the effective, substantive and close cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore over the past 50 years.

Vietnam is accelerating the industrialization and urbanization process; focusing on improving the quality of growth based on green production, clean energy, and knowledge-based development. The North Central and South Central Coast regions with their seaport and transportation systems, high-quality human resources; especially the potential for renewable energy will be an attractive destination to attract strategic investment to form a clean energy and green production ecosystem.

We appreciate and welcome VSIP Group - a brand associated with a series of industrial park and industrial, urban and service complex projects in many provinces and cities across the country. We hope that the VSIP Ha Tinh project will continue to affirm itself as a symbol of success in the Vietnam - Singapore strategic partnership."

The Deputy Prime Minister hopes that VSIP will continue to develop green, ecological, and smart industrial parks; be a place for research, application of science and technology, innovation, circular economic models, knowledge, bringing new technology, clean technology.

The Deputy Prime Minister also requested Ha Tinh to have a comprehensive plan to continue supporting businesses, creating all favorable conditions for investors to deploy and operate projects effectively to contribute to the socio-economic development of the province; establish tasks right from the infrastructure construction stage, build criteria to attract green investors, high-tech investors; connect, exchange and learn development experiences with VSIP industrial parks across the country.

In addition to attracting capital and technology, we must focus on innovation, harmonizing economic development with caring for workers. At the same time, we must continue to attach importance to administrative reform and improving the investment and business environment.
