Children watch magic at Linh Son Ancient Temple in the Mid-Autumn Festival program for children
With the theme of Zen Mid-Autumn Festival: Filial piety to parents, learning to grow up, the Mid-Autumn Festival at An Tho Pagoda ( Long An Ward) became a meeting place for hundreds of children and parents. In the bustling sound of lion dance drums, children were free to play, enjoy performing arts, participate in folk games, and write letters to Hang to express their dreams. These activities help children have more useful playgrounds, while creating an atmosphere of bonding and sharing.
Sharing about the meaning of the program, Venerable Thich Le Ngon - Deputy Head of the Executive Committee, Head of the Propagation Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the province, Abbot of An Tho Pagoda, said: "Mid-Autumn Festival is an opportunity for children to live in joy, and at the same time, it is also an opportunity to nurture love and filial piety towards parents and grandparents. Through these activities, we hope to sow humanistic values in children's souls, helping them to become more mature in their perception and action."
To make the joy more complete, the pagoda gave away about 1,500 gifts to children in the province, and also arranged many free buffet booths for children and parents to enjoy. Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Trang (residing in Long An ward, Tay Ninh province) shared: “I find this a very meaningful activity. My children look forward to the Mid-Autumn Festival every year to have fun and learn many useful things. I myself and many other parents also feel the close and friendly atmosphere.”
Along with those meaningful activities, in My An commune, Linh Son Co Tu (Hamlet 1) also organized a Mid-Autumn Festival for children. The pagoda coordinated with Lien Tam Long An Volunteer Club and Hieu Va Thuong Volunteer Group to give 300 gifts to students from kindergarten to grade 5 in My Phuoc Islet. Lanterns, cake boxes, stuffed animals, candies,... brought complete joy to many children on the full moon festival night.
Venerable Thich Thien Hung - Abbot of Linh Son Co Tu, confided: "We hope that in the next programs, we will continue to receive more support from organizations and individuals to have the best conditions to bring the children a warmer, happier and more meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival." After 6 years of maintenance, the Mid-Autumn Festival for Children program at Linh Son Co Tu has contributed to taking care of the spiritual life of children, while also lighting up the spirit of volunteerism and spreading love in the community.
The Mid-Autumn Festival program at many pagodas has brought children complete joy. And for the children, this will be an unforgettable beautiful memory associated with their childhood during the full moon seasons./.
