On the morning of October 7th, the Hanoi People's Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction project of the second facility of the Hanoi Kidney Hospital, a key project to celebrate the 71st anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi.
With the goal of providing modern facilities and equipment to better serve the emergency, inpatient, and outpatient medical examination and treatment needs in the field of Nephrology and Urology for the people in Hanoi and surrounding areas, the hospital is expected to have a capacity of 250 beds upon completion in 2026.
The Hanoi Kidney Hospital's second facility construction project is one of the key projects for the 2021-2025 period and is identified in the Hanoi City Party Committee's Program 08-CTr/TU on "Developing the social security system, improving social welfare and the quality of life of the people of Hanoi in the 2021-2025 period."
In her opening remarks, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha stated that, in implementing the Resolution of the 17th Hanoi Party Congress, Resolution No. 15-NQ/TW of the Politburo , and Program No. 08 of the Hanoi Party Committee on developing the social security system and improving social welfare to enhance the quality of life for the people of Hanoi in the 2021-2025 period, the city is focusing on leadership and direction, mobilizing the entire political system, implementing solutions, paying attention to investment, and consolidating the organizational structure and quality management network of hospitals and medical facilities.
The project was launched on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi, affirming the city's political determination to resolutely implement Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW dated September 19, 2025, of the Politburo on a number of breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care, and improvement of people's health.
Following the directives of General Secretary To Lam, health is the most precious asset of every citizen and of the entire nation, and is a decisive factor in the quality of human resources and the sustainable development of the country.
To ensure the project is completed on schedule, meets quality standards, and is put into operation as soon as possible, the Project Management Board, along with the construction, supervision, design, and implementation units, are focusing maximum resources, manpower, and equipment to organize construction in a way that ensures quality, labor safety, environmental hygiene, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to the approved schedule.
The departments, agencies, and the People's Committee of Duong Noi ward will continue to coordinate closely, creating favorable conditions and promptly resolving difficulties and obstacles in the implementation of the project.
The Department of Health has directed Hanoi Kidney Hospital to proactively prepare the necessary conditions regarding human resources, organizational structure, and professional training, in order to be ready to receive, utilize, and operate the new facility effectively.
The Hanoi Kidney Hospital Phase 2 project, located in Duong Noi ward, will consist of a main building with 2 to 8 above-ground floors and 1 basement floor, covering an area of approximately 6,355 square meters. The total investment is estimated at around 748 billion VND, funded by the city's budget. The project is expected to be completed in 2026.
The opening of the second branch of Hanoi Kidney Hospital in 2026 will contribute to enhancing the capacity of the capital's healthcare system, enabling more people to access high-quality kidney and urology services, and providing increasingly high-quality and specialized healthcare for the population.
