Hanoi: The 10th National Innovation and Startup Festival (Techfest Vietnam 2024), launched in April, aims to integrate the innovation and startup ecosystem into the regional and international arenas.
This information was provided by Dr. Pham Hong Quat, Director of the Department of Science and Technology Market Development, Ministry of Science and Technology , on the morning of April 19th.
With the theme "10-Year Journey - Global Integration," Techfest 2024 will summarize activities and showcase outstanding technologies and business models of the innovative startup ecosystem in 2024 and the 10-year journey of Techfest since 2015.
Mr. Quat stated that the theme of Techfest each year is closely linked to issues that need to be addressed within the innovative startup ecosystem, attracting attention in finding effective and timely solutions. The theme of Techfest 2024 aims to integrate Vietnam's innovative startup ecosystem with the region and internationally, creating a foundation for establishing a federation of innovative startup nations.

Techfest 2024 will be held in Hai Phong , featuring prominent events such as a policy forum, a competition to find innovative startup talents, an investment networking session, and a product exhibition. Nearly 150 activities are expected to be organized throughout the event, with the participation of almost 30 technology villages. This year's festival will include an international conference and forum, a technology exhibition, and a high-level national policy forum. A talk show to inspire and connect with a global network of innovative startups will also be a highlight of the event series.
The event also hosted the Asian High-Tech Startup and Unicorn Summit, bringing together innovative high-tech startups, unicorn startups, and startups with the potential to become unicorns (sonicorn) in Asia. These activities provided opportunities for Vietnamese startups to expand their market, attract international investment, and showcase Vietnam's dynamic innovative startup ecosystem to the world.
Techfest Vietnam, first held in 2015, has become an annual event organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with other organizations. Through successive Techfest events, Vietnam's innovative startup ecosystem has grown, creating a new generation of businesses that operate based on intellectual property and have the capacity to access global markets.
Currently, three national innovation and startup support centers are being established in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City. According to statistics from the Director of the Department of Science and Technology Market Development, Vietnam has approximately 3,800 startups, of which 11 are valued at over $100 million and 3 are valued at over $1 billion.
