However, many entrepreneurs and experts recommend that young people need to be well-prepared with knowledge, skills, and a spirit of daring to think, daring to act, and daring to take risks.

A journey of commitment

The entrepreneurial story of Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Nga (born in 1985, from Cam Nam commune, Hoi An ward), owner of Long Hoa Vegan Foods Co., Ltd., is a testament to the aspirations of young people. Ms. Nga's family has a long tradition of producing vegan sausages and ham. After years of planning and market research, she boldly launched Long Hoa Vegan Foods – organic vegetable seasoning – in 2022.

To date, the company's products have been wholesaled to dealers in 12 provinces and cities nationwide, winning first prize in the Quang Nam (formerly) province's Creative Startup Competition, second prize in the National Startup Program, first prize in the Competition for Promoting Excellent Farmers' Products - Green Transformation, and achieving HACCP, food safety, and OCOP 3-star certifications…

Ms. Nga shared that entrepreneurship doesn't teach you to go fast, but to go right. Three things she believes she's learned on her entrepreneurial journey and wants to share with young people are: start with a strong product and a clearly defined target customer group; create a long-term plan; and don't do everything alone.

Sharing her journey in commercializing innovative startup products in the agricultural and medicinal plant sector, Ms. Le Thi Bich Luyen, General Director of Triet Minh Co., Ltd. (TRIMICO), stated that to achieve the results they have today, the company has remained steadfast in its goals. These goals include focusing on brand and product positioning in the market, building a product story connected to the local area to evoke emotions in customers, strengthening packaging and labeling to allow customers to experience the product, selling what customers need rather than what the company has, and prioritizing communication strategies…

“I used to be a youth union member and had the aspirations of youth. Back then, I realized that no business was producing convenient, readily available herbal products from Quang Nam province for consumers. In 2018, I started my business, and in 2019, I began researching and selling raw herbal products. From 2020 to 2023, I focused on applying science and technology to product manufacturing. In 2024 and 2025, we will concentrate on developing our distribution network, with over 100 agents and distributors nationwide, 8 franchised stores, and 2 stores in airport waiting areas,” Ms. Luyen said.

Union members are not "standing on the sidelines".

According to Mr. Nguyen Viet Toan, Director of the City's Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, Da Nang is creating tremendous opportunities for students, youth union members, and young people. The goal by 2030 is to be among the top 300 global startup ecosystems, become a national data center, a training, testing, and production center for AI, have over 600 startup projects/businesses, operate innovation spaces, a network of innovative startup spaces at the ward/commune level, have 90% of lecturers trained, 50% of students receiving entrepreneurship training, and build a strong network connecting the State - Universities - Scientists - Businesses - Community…

However, to seize opportunities, students and youth union members must not "stand on the sidelines." They must boldly participate in science and technology competitions, startup competitions, fundraising competitions, etc. In these arenas, they receive evaluations and feedback from mentors, experts, and businesses to improve their products; they also learn practical skills and presentation skills; certifications from major competitions are a great advantage in the eyes of top recruiters and provide opportunities to receive funding to turn their paper projects into real products…

According to Le Cong Hung, Secretary of the Da Nang City Youth Union, an increasing number of youth union members, young people, and students in Da Nang are boldly implementing breakthrough technology projects and startups in key sectors such as tourism and services, smart cities, and digital transformation. Through these initiatives, they not only become self-reliant and successful but also make practical contributions to economic growth and create new, sustainable values for the community.

The annual Innovation and Entrepreneurship Festival, jointly organized by the Da Nang Youth Union and the Department of Science and Technology, has a significant impact on students and young people. Through this platform, the Youth Union connects projects and products from its members with businesses. Simultaneously, students and young people gain access to the city's startup support policies, enabling them to confidently research and implement projects, thus fostering a vibrant and innovative startup community.
