On December 11, in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) organized the 5th National Forum on Developing Vietnamese Digital Technology Enterprises with the theme "Innovative digital applications to develop the digital economy - Driving force for economic growth and labor productivity". Attending the Forum were comrade Tran Hong Ha - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister.
To concretize the policies and orientations of the Party and Government on developing digital technology enterprises, from 2019 to present, the National Forum on Developing Vietnamese Digital Technology Enterprises has become an annual and large-scale activity of the Vietnamese digital technology enterprise community.

Speaking at the opening of the Forum, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said that looking back over the past 4 years, from 2019 to present, Vietnam's digital technology industry has had very encouraging steps of development and growth.
The number of digital technology enterprises increased by 30%, digital technology industry revenue increased by 32%, the proportion of Make in Vietnam - Made in Vietnam of digital technology industry products increased from 21% to 29%.
The software production sector for foreign countries alone grew by 43%, and we currently have over 1,400 of these businesses, with revenue gradually approaching the 10 billion USD mark.
"In 2019, we named and gave birth to the Vietnamese digital technology business community, with the mission of Make in Vietnam: Research in Vietnam, Create in Vietnam, Make in Vietnam, contributing to helping Vietnam escape the middle-income trap, and realizing the aspiration of a strong and prosperous Vietnam.
Vietnam not only assembles and processes, but also creates Vietnamese products, solves Vietnamese problems and from here goes global. If you want to go far, remember that original mission," Minister Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized.
Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung delivered the opening speech.
According to Minister Nguyen Manh Hung, the most important thing in developing the digital economy is digital applications and digital transformation applications for industries.
"So who will do this? It must be the network operators, the digital technology enterprises. Because we have the infrastructure, we have the technology, we have the human resources, we have the knowledge of digital transformation, then we must be the ones to create digital transformation applications for the industries. In the past few years, we left this to the industries and therefore the development of digital transformation in Vietnam is very slow," Minister Nguyen Manh Hung assessed.
The Minister of Information and Communications said that developing digital applications for industries is also product creation, which is also Make in Vietnam. Network operators and digital technology enterprises must consider this as a research and development activity.
The Minister cited the example of China Mobile, a Chinese network operator, which spends up to 4 billion USD a year to develop applications and Use Cases for industries. They have developed over 30,000 industrial 5G applications, and China Mobile's annual revenue has increased by over 10%. The 5G application market will reach 670 billion USD by 2025, which will help the network operator's revenue increase by 50% compared to 2020.
"So, tens of thousands of Vietnamese digital technology enterprises should enter industries and fields to create digital applications, help digital transformation, and develop the digital economy for industries and fields. And this is also the process of industrialization and modernization of the country. Vietnamese digital technology enterprises from now on have a new mission of industrialization and modernization of the country through creating digital applications and digital transformation for industries and fields," said Minister Nguyen Manh Hung.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized that the semiconductor industry is a supply chain, a global ecosystem. We will develop the Vietnamese semiconductor industry in a domestic and global ecosystem. There is both autonomy and international cooperation. But Vietnam still has to move towards a complete supply chain, not just a few stages. Technology is changing very quickly, maybe even faster. Only a complete national supply chain can meet the requirements of high speed and low cost.
"Without Make in Vietnam, Vietnam cannot become a developed country. Without Make in Vietnam, we cannot go out into the world. Without Make in Vietnam, Vietnam cannot be self-reliant. Without Make in Vietnam, Vietnam cannot be strong and prosperous," Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung especially emphasized.
Speaking at the Forum, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha said that this is an opportunity to review the activities of digital technology enterprises and spread awareness of digital transformation to society. The Forum is also an opportunity for digital enterprises to demonstrate their pioneering role in innovation; science and technology are the key to development.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the opinions of leaders of digital economy enterprises at the Forum are suggestions for the business community on the digital economy and especially for state agencies and enterprises in other fields to find new motivation - replacing the resources of traditional economies that previously relied only on resources, labor and tax incentives from the state. Vietnam is facing a very rare opportunity, where latecomers can catch up and "take a shortcut" in the field of information technology.
"Enterprises that seize this opportunity will bring about major changes so that Vietnam can have unique products of its own. The Vietnamese Government identifies digital science and technology as a new space, a new productive force, a new resource to increase labor productivity, and a driving force for economic growth," Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha affirmed.
Also at the Forum, the Ministry of Information and Communications solemnly organized the Announcement and Award Ceremony of the 2023 Make in Vietnam Digital Technology Product Award to honor Vietnamese enterprises and organizations with outstanding digital technology products, solutions and services to solve problems in Vietnam and the world.
