On the morning of January 16th (local time), the Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico and concurrently to Guatemala, Nguyen Van Hai, solemnly presented the credentials of President Luong Cuong to Guatemalan President Bernardo Arévalo, thereby clearly demonstrating Vietnam's desire to continuously promote the traditional friendship with the Central American nation.

According to the VNA correspondent in Latin America, speaking at the solemn ceremony held at the National Palace of Culture in Guatemala, Ambassador Nguyen Van Hai conveyed to President Bernardo Arévalo the respectful greetings and friendly sentiments of the high-ranking leaders of Vietnam, and affirmed that Vietnam always values ​​and wishes to continue strengthening friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation with Guatemala as well as other countries in the Central American region.

Ambassador Nguyen Van Hai emphasized that Vietnam is ready to cooperate closely with the government and relevant agencies of Guatemala to promote exchanges of delegations at all levels, strengthen political dialogue, and expand cooperation in economics, trade, investment, tourism, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. The Ambassador assessed Guatemala as having many potentials and strengths in agriculture, exports, and tourism, and affirmed Vietnam's desire to become a bridge promoting cooperation between Guatemala and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Southeast Asian region.

Guatemalan President Bernardo Arévalo congratulated Ambassador Nguyen Van Hai on his appointment, affirming that the Guatemalan Government wishes to cooperate closely with the Ambassador in promoting the development of bilateral relations that are increasingly substantive, effective, and sustainable, for the benefit of the people of both countries.

During the visit, Ambassador Nguyen Van Hai also held working sessions with the Guatemalan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of political parties, local authorities, and businesses. At these meetings, the Ambassador informed the Guatemalan side about the situation in Vietnam, including Vietnam's active preparations for the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The Ambassador emphasized that this is a particularly important political event, significant in guiding the country's development in the new phase, and demonstrating Vietnam's determination to continue its reform, deep international integration, and sustainable development policies.

Leaders and representatives of Guatemalan agencies and organizations expressed their interest in and appreciation of Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements in recent years, and extended their congratulations and best wishes for the success of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, contributing to Vietnam's continued stable development and enhancing its role and position in the international arena.

During his time in Guatemala, Ambassador Nguyen Van Hai also worked with the Guatemalan Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, leaders of units responsible for bilateral relations, and met with the business community and tourism agencies to discuss specific measures to promote cooperation in the fields of economics, trade, investment, and tourism.
