The Hoan Kiem Lake area - its surroundings and Hanoi's Old Quarter have been recognized as a city-level tourist area.

The Hanoi People's Committee has just issued Decision No. 5526/QD-UBND recognizing the Hoan Kiem Lake area - its surroundings and the Hanoi Old Quarter (Hoan Kiem District) as a city-level historical site. The Hoan Kiem District People's Committee is responsible for organizing, managing, exploiting, and developing the tourist area in accordance with the Tourism Law and other relevant legal documents.

According to the Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board, the total area of ​​Hoan Kiem Lake - its surroundings and the Hanoi Old Quarter is 145.72 hectares. Located in the heart of Hanoi, Hoan Kiem Lake features three famous landmarks: the Turtle Tower, the Inkstone Monument, and the Pen Tower, becoming cultural symbols of the entire country. It is not only a tourist destination that enhances the beauty of Hanoi, but also a representative landmark of the country's long history and culture.

The Hoan Kiem Lake area - its surroundings and the Old Quarter of Hanoi - are home to numerous historical and cultural relics, including Special National Monuments such as: the scenic Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple, and the Bach Ma Temple. National Monuments include: the Hanoi Old Quarter, the Heritage House at 87 Ma May Street, Kim Ngan Temple (42-44 Hang Bac Street), Dong Lac Temple (38 Hang Dao Street), Nam Huong Temple (75 Hang Trong Street), and the O Quan Chuong Gate...

Currently, Hoan Kiem district has implemented tours to visit historical sites around Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi's Old Quarter: the Heritage Journey Tour (a tour around Hoan Kiem Lake and the following sites: the Heritage House at 87 Ma May, the Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center at 50 Dao Duy Tu, the Art Center at 22 Hang Buom, and Kim Ngan Temple) and tours of the Old Quarter.

The introduction of these tours has contributed to promoting tourism, stimulating the development of services and commercial activities, and helping to preserve and promote heritage values ​​in Hoan Kiem district.

In particular, to attract tourists and enhance the appeal of Hanoi's tourism, Hoan Kiem district has implemented pedestrian zones around Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi's Old Quarter on the three weekend days. These areas have become tourist destinations offering entertainment, cultural exploration, architecture, and diverse cuisine for locals, domestic and international visitors.

Currently, this area has 125 gift shops and OCOP (One Commune One Product) product stores; 5 five-star hotels, 3 four-star hotels with 1,519 rooms, along with many smaller hotels and homestays, making it a popular destination for tourists, especially international visitors. The tourism accommodation system is designed to serve at least 50,000 people per year.

Currently, the total number of overnight visitors in this area is 996,000 per year, of which more than 568,000 are international tourists.
