Hoan Kiem Lake area - vicinity and Hanoi Old Quarter are recognized as city-level tourist areas.

The Hanoi People's Committee has just issued Decision No. 5526/QD-UBND on recognizing the city-level relic site for the Hoan Kiem Lake - vicinity tourist area and Hanoi Old Quarter (Hoan Kiem District). The Hoan Kiem District People's Committee is responsible for organizing the management, exploitation and development of the tourist area in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Tourism and related legal documents.

According to the Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter, the total area of Hoan Kiem Lake - vicinity and Hanoi Old Quarter is 145.72 hectares. Hoan Kiem Lake is located in the heart of Hanoi Capital, with three famous symbols: Turtle Tower, Inkstone and Pen Tower, becoming cultural symbols of the whole country. This place is not only a tourist destination that beautifies the beauty of Hanoi Capital, but also a typical mark of the long history and culture of the country.

The Hoan Kiem Lake area - vicinity and Hanoi Old Quarter area concentrate many historical and cultural relics, including special National relics including: Hoan Kiem Lake scenic spot and Ngoc Son Temple, Bach Ma Temple relic. Currently, Hoan Kiem district has launched tours to visit Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi's Old Quarter: Heritage Journey Tour (visiting Hoan Kiem Lake and the following locations: Heritage House 87 Ma May, Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center 50 Dao Duy Tu, Art Center 22 Hang Buom, Kim Ngan Communal House) and tours to visit the Old Quarter.

The launch of sightseeing tours has contributed to promoting tourism, stimulating the development of services and commercial activities, and contributing to preserving and promoting heritage values in Hoan Kiem district.

In particular, to attract tourists and increase the attractiveness of tourism in the capital, Hoan Kiem district has organized walking spaces in the Hoan Kiem Lake area and Hanoi's Old Quarter on the last 3 days of the weekend, which has become a tourist destination, entertainment, cultural exploration, architecture, and rich cuisine for local people and domestic and foreign tourists.

Currently, this area has 125 shops selling gifts and OCOP products; 5 5-star hotels, 3 4-star hotels with 1,519 rooms and many small hotels and homestays, so it is home to many tourists, especially international tourists. The tourist accommodation system ensures to serve at least 50,000 people/year.

Currently, the total number of overnight visitors in this area is 996,000 people/year, of which international visitors are more than 568,000.
