These days, businesses, shopping malls, supermarkets, and retail stores throughout the province are aggressively launching promotional programs with attractive price discounts to stimulate consumer spending during Black Friday.

Boosting consumer spending during Black Friday

Canifa Viet Tri fashion store is running a Black Friday promotion from November 15th to December 1st.

Black Friday is considered the biggest discount event of the year, taking place on the last Friday of November every year. This year, Black Friday falls on November 29th. In response to this event, many businesses, supermarkets, stores, and shopping malls in the province have put up signs advertising discounts with special offers such as: deep discounts of 50%; sales up to 80%; fixed prices of 49K, 99K, 129K... on all products. In addition, there are programs such as: Buy 2 get 1 free, buy 1 get 1 free with a gift, both in-store and online...

The bustling atmosphere of Black Friday is evident in the fashion clothing, shoes, bags, household goods, and electronics sectors. From major brands like Nem, Format, Pantio, Evadeva, and Sido, to mid-range brands such as Tokyolife, Yody, and Leika, all have prepared their inventory and staff to meet customer demand.

To attract customers, this year, the Canifa Viet Tri fashion store – located on Hung Vuong Street, Gia Cam Ward, Viet Tri City – has displayed discount signs and decorated its shelves with black and red accessories to create a unique style and brand identity since the beginning of November. Over 40,000 fashion items of various kinds are neatly arranged on shelves and racks, waiting for customers with special offers. Mr. Pham Hoang Minh – the store manager – said: Canifa officially launched its Black Friday shopping festival from November 15th to December 1st. Compared to last year, this year the system implemented the promotional program earlier and for a longer period. Many products are discounted up to 50%, including autumn/winter clothing, sweaters, and lightweight sweatshirts – products that are popular with customers at this time. In addition, the system also implements supplementary programs when shopping, such as giving discount vouchers for eligible invoices when paying by scanning the VNPay QR code...

Boosting consumer spending during Black Friday

The number of shoppers on Black Friday increased compared to normal days at Thu Cam mother and baby store in Gia Cam ward, Viet Tri city.

While on regular holidays the average discount is only 10-50%, Black Friday sees much more intense and widespread promotions. Many product categories and groups offer deep discounts of up to 80%. This is a top priority for customers when choosing products.

At Mediamart Viet Tri electronics store, the message "Black Friday: 10 Days of Darkness - Unbeatable Prices" is being widely promoted across all stores in the province and through the supermarket's media channels, with many product lines discounted by up to 70%. Observations at Mediamart Viet Tri show that many products are marked with discount signs alongside their original prices for easy comparison. The promotional products focus on household appliances, kitchenware, and electronics. Items designed to combat the early winter chill, such as heaters, fan heaters, and clothes dryers, are also heavily discounted. The program runs from November 22nd to December 1st.

According to surveys, this year businesses, stores, and supermarkets in the province are implementing Black Friday promotions lasting an average of 10-15 days instead of just a single day as before. Mr. Dam Anh Hung, manager of Trung Hue Sports Supermarket in Gia Cam Ward, Viet Tri City, believes that extending the promotion period allows customers more time to choose products that suit their needs; at the same time, it gives the store more time to promote and attract more customers.

The Black Friday shopping atmosphere isn't just bustling in traditional markets; this year, e-commerce platforms are also launching massive promotional programs. It's been observed that major e-commerce sites like Shopee and Lazada have implemented numerous deep discounts, including free shipping, up to 50% off, and shopping vouchers.

Taking advantage of deep discounts, many consumers have shown interest, making lists of items they need to buy and prioritizing them to avoid getting lost in the "maze" of price reductions. Ms. Luong Thi Ngoc, from Minh Phuong ward, Viet Tri city, said: "Fashion items and household goods are always my priority purchases during this time because of the variety of designs and brands, and most importantly, the reasonable prices, which help me save a considerable amount of money. This also helps reduce the pressure of daily expenses."

Many food and consumer goods at Winmart+ supermarket are also discounted.

Black Friday sales are not only an opportunity for consumers to shop at discounted prices, but also a chance for retailers and businesses to boost sales and achieve growth targets at the end of the year. Although the number of shoppers hasn't been as large in recent years, the atmosphere is still much more lively than usual.

However, with the massive promotions, Black Friday also requires consumers to filter information and be wary of dishonest promotional tactics or the sale of low-quality goods. Customers should also be mindful of shopping at authorized stores and major brands to ensure product quality; check details about product quality, return policies, and warranties before purchasing; and especially verify information when receiving promotional emails and text messages offering discounts.

To contribute to market stability and consumer protection, the provincial authorities have directed businesses and guided traders to participate in promotional activities and programs, paying attention to product advertising and marketing, affirming brand reputation in appropriate and practical ways; at the same time, strengthening inspection, supervision, statistics, and transparency of promotional programs so that consumers truly benefit from promotions...
