Kien Giang: 7 months, destroyed 11 criminal gangs

On July 22, Colonel Diep Van The, Deputy Director of Kien Giang Provincial Police, said that from the beginning of 2023 until now, police forces at all levels have coordinated with departments, branches, sectors, and organizations to effectively deploy and carry out 6 peak periods of attacking and suppressing all types of crimes, maintaining order and social security, and protecting the safety of events in the province.

Specifically, local police have fought and resolutely suppressed organized crime gangs, thereby destroying 11 gangs, arresting and handling 87 subjects, most of them in Phu Quoc City.

Regarding security and order, 353/400 cases were investigated and solved, 673 criminals were arrested and prosecuted; of which 53/53 very serious and especially serious cases were solved, 84 criminals were arrested, reaching 100%.

In addition, the police force also eliminated 180 social evil hotspots and places, handled 1,132 subjects; deterred and educated 2,440 subjects; arrested, persuaded them to surrender and eliminated 60 subjects with wanted notices, including one subject who had been on the run for 14 years.

The functional forces of the whole province also discovered and destroyed 168 cases, arrested 230 subjects buying, selling, storing, transporting, and organizing illegal use of drugs, seized 1,190 cannabis plants, 1,361.86 grams of synthetic drugs, 4 military guns, 34 bullets, sent 294 subjects to drug rehabilitation, and administratively handled 173 subjects violating drug laws.
