"The Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City will advise and propose to leaders at all levels and overseas Vietnamese to promote activities towards the homeland's seas and islands with specific and practical actions," said Ms. Vu Thi Huynh Mai, Chairwoman of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City, during a visit and working session with the Command of Naval Region 5 on the afternoon of June 25 in Phu Quoc City ( Kien Giang Province).

At the meeting, delegates of the Delegation of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City (the Delegation) watched a traditional film about the process of building, fighting, growing and developing the Naval Region 5 Command; listened to an introduction of some main features of the Southwest sea area and the outstanding achievements and results of the Naval Region 5 Command in carrying out assigned political tasks.

Speaking at the meeting, Colonel Luong Quoc Anh expressed his joy at welcoming the delegation to visit the unit. According to Colonel Luong Quoc Anh: The delegation's "Journey to the sea and islands of the homeland" is a practical activity, helping overseas Vietnamese better understand the sea and islands of the homeland as well as the living, working, studying and working conditions of officers and soldiers of the Naval Region 5 Command and the unit's mission of protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands.

The Deputy Commander of Naval Region 5 expressed his hope that after the journey to the Southwest Sea, the delegates would actively promote the sea, islands and activities to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the officers and soldiers of the Region to the people and overseas Vietnamese. Thereby, contributing to fostering the love for the sea and islands, making the movement "For the homeland's sea and islands - For the frontline of the Fatherland" continue to spread widely, achieving practical results while encouraging and motivating officers and soldiers of the unit to successfully complete their assigned tasks.

On behalf of the delegation, Ms. Vu Thi Huynh Mai thanked the officers and soldiers of the Naval Region 5 Command for their warm and thoughtful welcome. She said: The trip aims to enhance responsibility, affection, arouse and promote the patriotism of all classes of people in Ho Chi Minh City and our compatriots abroad for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new situation.

“With our feelings and responsibilities, we will continue to advise and propose to leaders at all levels and overseas Vietnamese to promote activities towards the homeland’s sea and islands with specific, practical and meaningful actions to encourage, cheer and motivate cadres, soldiers, people and forces to stick to the sea and islands, perform well the assigned tasks, contributing to firmly protecting the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland,” said Ms. Vu Thi Huynh Mai.

On this occasion, the delegation of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in Ho Chi Minh City presented officers and soldiers of Naval Region 5 Command with many practical and meaningful gifts.

From June 25 to 29, the Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese organized a delegation of overseas Vietnamese to visit officers and soldiers of Naval Region 5. The working trip had the theme "Journey of overseas Vietnamese returning to the homeland's islands". 38 delegates representing intellectuals, businessmen, cultural - social charity organizations, and outstanding overseas Vietnamese associations participated in this trip.

The 5-day journey of the Delegation has many practical and meaningful contents. The Delegation will participate in activities of offering flowers and incense at the monument and memorial house of President Ho Chi Minh, visiting the Phu Quoc Prison Martyrs Memorial, visiting officers and soldiers and presenting works to Brigade 127, Regiment 551, Battalion 563, Radar Station 620 and visiting Navy ships.

Overseas Vietnamese delegates also participated in gratitude work, visited, encouraged and gave meaningful gifts to former political prisoners, and took care of children of soldiers (Region 5 Nursery) under the Naval Region 5 Command.
