The VSU's advance in Bakhmut, and American reports about Kyiv's spy network, are some of the latest developments regarding the situation in Ukraine.

On June 5, responding to press questions about Moscow's claim that Kyiv had launched a general counteroffensive at five points along the front line in eastern Donetsk, a spokesperson for the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (VSU) stated: "We have no such information and we do not comment on any form of false information."
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Ganna Malyar said the VSU had carried out “several offensive actions on the front lines,” but she downplayed the scale of the offensive. The official stated: “The Bakhmut region remains the focal point of the fighting. We are advancing on a fairly wide front. We are achieving some successes.”
Earlier that day, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the VSU had launched a large-scale offensive in Donetsk: “On the morning of June 4, the enemy launched a large-scale offensive in five areas of the front on the southern Donetsk direction with the 23rd and 31st mechanized brigades from the VSU’s strategic reserve forces, with the support of other army units and troop groups.”
* On June 5th, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly in Kyiv to discuss preparations for the NATO Summit, as well as Ukraine's response to the Russian attack. Speaking on Telegram in a video about the meeting, Zelensky said: “We are very grateful for the support that Britain has given and continues to give to Ukraine.”
Earlier, on June 1st, on the sidelines of the European Political Community (EPC) summit in Moldova, Zelensky met with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The British leader expressed his gratitude for London's active support for Kyiv in the current conflict.
* CNN (USA), citing US intelligence sources, reported that Ukraine has created a network of spies and supporters in Russia to receive drones and carry out sabotage operations.
Specifically, Kyiv supplied these individuals with Ukrainian UAVs, and there is no evidence to suggest that any attacks were carried out using UAVs supplied by the US. Furthermore, sources indicate that Ukraine apparently transported individual UAV components to Russian territory, where they were then assembled and used.
Washington argues that Kyiv's security and intelligence agencies play a major role in controlling these forces, citing the attack on the Kremlin in May as an example.
* In an interview with the German media group DW on June 5th while visiting Indonesia, regarding the possibility of supplying fighter jets to Ukraine, Mr. Pistorius said: “Currently, we are in a phase of reconsideration and weighing what is possible, what we want and what we can do. I think we will decide on this in the next two weeks.”
However, he rejected the possibility of transferring Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine in the near future, after Kyiv had officially made a request to Berlin.
Regarding the possibility of Ukraine using German weapons on Russian territory, he noted that international law allows Ukraine to do so in self-defense. However, the defense official said that Berlin and Washington have consistently emphasized that they do not want their weapons crossing the Russian border. Pistorius expressed complete confidence in his Ukrainian partners.
