Kinh Mon town has an area of about 165.34 ^km2 , of which the inner city area includes 14 existing wards and Hoanh Son commune (expected to merge into Duy Tan ward).

The area planned to establish Duy Tan ward after arrangement meets the standards of urban infrastructure development level applicable to wards of type III urban areas.

Kinh Mon town is located in the Northern key economic zone, between two major economic centers of Quang Ninh and Hai Phong, and is the northeastern development center of Hai Duong . The average economic growth rate in the 3 years (2021-2023) reached 9.39%. Kinh Mon has 4 industrial clusters of Long Xuyen, Duy Tan, Phu Thu, Hiep Son that have been basically filled; 6 industrial clusters have been established (An Phu, Thang Long, That Hung 1, That Hung 2, Quang Trung, Bach Dang).

Kinh Mon's average income per capita in 2023 will reach 7.67 million VND/person/month, 1.59 times higher than the national average.

The town's population in 2023 is 215,637 people, of which 178,214 are permanent residents and the rest are temporary residents. In 2023, the number of workers working in economic sectors is 63,296 people. The rate of non- agricultural workers is 72.78%. The average income per capita in 2023 is 7.67 million VND/person/month, 1.59 times higher than the national average (the national average is 4.83 million VND/person/month).

Duy Tan Ward has an area of 7.69 ^km2 , population of 8,352 people. Hoanh Son Commune has an area of 4.184 ^km2 , population of 3,509 people. In recent years, Kinh Mon has focused resources on investing in urban infrastructure for Hoanh Son Commune and Duy Tan Ward such as: upgrading traffic routes according to planning, lighting systems, water supply, drainage, environmental sanitation and urban trees... with a budget for the period 2020-2024 reaching about 62.5 billion VND.
