The appearance of villages and hamlets in ethnic minority areas of Kon Plông district has changed thanks to investment from national target programs.

Over the years, with the attention of all levels, especially the allocation of resources from the three National Target Programs (National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction, National Target Program for New Rural Development, and National Target Program for Socio -Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas), favorable conditions have been created for Kon Plông district to implement policies for ethnic minorities in the area.

To implement policies promptly and in line with the local situation, the District People's Committee has delegated authority to the People's Committees of communes and towns to implement infrastructure investment projects, provide housing and land support, and carry out production development projects for ethnic minority communities.

Walking along the concrete road leading to the newly completed production area in 2023, Mr. A Nam, the village elder of Kon Plông hamlet, Hiếu commune, Kon Plông district, shared: "In the past, roads were difficult to travel on. The government invested in inter-village roads, and now they are much better. Last year, they built several more concrete roads leading to the production area, and the people are very happy. We no longer fear muddy conditions when it rains, and transportation of agricultural products is much easier."

Concrete roads leading directly to the production areas create favorable conditions for ethnic minority communities to develop their economy.

In particular, resources from the National Target Program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, giai đoạn 2021 – 2030, phase I: 2021 – 2025, have helped many ethnic minority households in Kon Plông district to build houses and develop production to increase their income.

To date, the district has provided support to 6 households with residential land; supported 4 households with production land; supported 36 households with housing; invested in 3 centralized water supply projects in Ngok Tem, Dak Ring and Dak Tang communes; supported decentralized water supply (purchase of water tanks) for 750 poor households; and provided livelihood support for poor households...

Ms. Y Luoc, from Vi Chring village, Hieu commune, Kon Plong district, said: "My husband and I have been married for almost 10 years. Before, we lived in a temporary house. In 2023, the district provided 44 million VND in support, and we borrowed an additional 40 million VND to build a spacious house. Now we just focus on developing our economy to increase our income and escape poverty as soon as possible."

Recently, the commune provided our family with a breeding buffalo worth 18 million VND. We also bought cement and corrugated iron to build a sturdy barn. With the buffalo, we are taking good care of it, and its future reproduction will provide us with an additional source of income, helping us escape poverty through livestock farming," shared Mr. A Phan from Vi Choong village, Hieu commune, Kon Plong district.

Thanks to state investment, the efforts of local authorities and the people, the appearance of Kon Plông district has improved significantly, especially in the remote and ethnic minority areas. To date, 3 out of 8 communes in the district have met the standards for new rural areas, with an average of 13.25 criteria met per commune.

Mr. Pham Van Thang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Kon Plong district, said: "The synchronized implementation of ethnic policies and the three National Target Programs has contributed to improving the material and spiritual lives of the people in ethnic minority areas."

Accordingly, the average per capita income reached 40 million VND/person/year by the end of 2023. The poverty rate in the district decreased to 22.38%. 100% of communes have roads accessible by car in both seasons, and over 95% of inter-village, intra-village, and production area roads have been paved. Educational facilities have been invested in comprehensively; all 9 communes and towns in the district have achieved universal education standards for 5-year-old children; the quality of education is constantly improving, with 13 schools currently meeting national standards.

The ethnic minority areas of Kon Plông district are gradually changing, and these results demonstrate the effective impact of the Party and State's attention to ethnic minorities. This is the belief and motivation for ethnic minorities in Kon Plông district to continue striving in labor and production, building a prosperous life, and developing their homeland day by day.

Never before has ethnic affairs received as much attention as it does today.
