According to statistics, Kon Tum province ranks second in the Central Highlands region (after Lam Dong) in terms of the number of visitors coming to visit and travel.
On December 11, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Kon Tum province held a conference to promote tourism in Kon Tum province in 2024.
This event is part of the 5th Cultural - Tourism Week and the 2nd Kon Tum Gong and Xoang Festival of Ethnic Minorities in 2024.

According to statistics, in 2023, Kon Tum welcomed 1.3 million visitors, including 5,000 international visitors. In 2024, the total number of visitors is estimated to reach 2.3 million, with the number of international visitors increasing to 8,500. With this number, in the Central Highlands region, Kon Tum is the second province after Lam Dong in terms of number of visitors. To date, Kon Tum province has recognized 13 tourist destinations and 1 provincial-level tourist area.

Kon Tum province is currently actively surveying and evaluating to consider recognizing new tourist destinations, contributing to expanding tourism types and increasing the attractiveness of this locality to domestic and foreign tourists.
From 2022 to present, Kon Tum province has supported and guided more than 110 investors and businesses, attracting 18 new projects with a total investment capital of more than 2,214 billion VND. Of which, Kon Tum city accounts for 16 projects with a total registered capital of over 1,336 billion VND, Kon Plong district has 2 projects with a total capital of over 877 billion VND.
To turn tourism into a spearhead economic sector by 2030, Kon Tum province will promote eco-tourism and resorts in areas such as Mang Den, Ngoc Linh, and Chu Mom Ray; develop community tourism, combined with exploiting the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities.
At the same time, 153 projects were implemented, including 40 projects in the fields of trade, services and tourism, with the aim of meeting the needs of tourists; focusing on investing in transport infrastructure, expanding connections to key tourist areas such as: Bo Y International Border Gate, Mang Den.
At the conference, Mr. Pham Van Thuy, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, assessed: Kon Tum has a cool climate, a unique and diverse ecosystem and is a place to preserve diverse cultural identities of ethnic groups. However, the infrastructure is not yet synchronous, the quality of tourism human resources does not meet the requirements, tourism products are not diverse and attractive, so the potential and strengths of the locality have not been fully exploited.
