Professor Le Thi (1926-2020), whose real name was Duong Thi Thoa, is known as one of the two young women who hoisted the national flag during the Declaration of Independence ceremony on September 2, 1945. She is also known as one of the first female professors of Philosophy in Vietnam, having served as Director of the Institute of Philosophy and Director of the Center for Women and Family Studies (now the Institute for Human, Family and Gender Studies).

Speaking at the event, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tai Dong, Director of the Institute of Philosophy (Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences ), emphasized that previous generations, including the late Professor Le Thi, made significant contributions to Vietnamese philosophy. She was one of the pioneers who laid the foundation for philosophy, allowing today's generation to continue the values ​​that Professor Le Thi and previous generations established.

Dr. Nguyen Dinh Tuan, Director of the Institute for Human, Family and Gender Studies, emphasized that the Institute's achievements in research on family and gender, and contemporary social issues to date, all bear the mark of the research results of the late Professor Le Thi and previous generations. The 100th anniversary of the birth of the late Professor Le Thi is not only an occasion to pay tribute to a great scientist but also an opportunity for generations of the Institute for Human, Family and Gender Studies to reflect on their responsibility to the scientific legacy built by previous generations, including the late Professor Le Thi.

As part of the commemoration, a thematic seminar titled "The Life and Career of the Late Professor Le Thi" was held, along with the launch of the memoir "My Mother - The Woman Who Raised the National Flag," compiled by Le Minh Quoc, the son of the late Professor Le Thi.
