According to Deputy Foreign Minister Le Anh Tuan, 2025 marks several significant milestones in the friendly relations and cooperation between Vietnam and Africa. For the first time, the President, the Chairman of the National Assembly, and the Prime Minister of Vietnam will all visit Africa in the same year. Vietnam will also welcome many high-level African delegations and, for the first time, establish and upgrade cooperation frameworks with three African partners. Economic relations are also developing strongly, with bilateral trade turnover projected to increase by 27% in 2025 compared to 2024.

Based on the foundation of trust, historical relations, and the determination of the leaders and people of both sides, Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan expressed his confidence that Vietnam-Africa relations will continue to develop strongly in the spirit of "cooperation for development and common interests," making positive contributions to achieving development goals and serving the practical interests of the people.

For his part, Ambassador Jamale Chouaibi of Morocco to Vietnam, Head of the Group of African Ambassadors in Vietnam, emphasized that the celebration of Africa Day aims to honor the solidarity of African peoples, while also reminding himself of his shared responsibility in building a peaceful, prosperous, and cohesive Africa and world order.

On this occasion, the Head of the Group of African Ambassadors congratulated Vietnam on the successful and smooth transitions that have taken place this year following the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 16th National Assembly elections.

Ambassador Jamale Chouaibi affirmed that the partnership between Africa and Vietnam holds immense potential. Trade and investment flows are growing steadily, and there is still significant potential for expanding cooperation in key areas such as agriculture, education, technology transfer, and sustainable development.

According to the Ambassador, continuing and strengthening economic relations also needs to be promoted through people-to-people exchanges. Vietnam is actively fostering these connections through scholarship programs for African students at the Vietnam Maritime University and many other educational institutions.

May 25, 2026 marks the 63rd anniversary of Africa Day – a significant milestone honoring the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), the predecessor of today's African Union (AU).
