Ukraine's UAVs are no longer safe, Azov Brigade fails Russia's attack

The defeat of the Azov Brigade near Dobropolye, when Russian electronic warfare neutralized the "Magyar Birds" UAV unit of the Ukrainian army.

Geolocated footage has appeared on the Internet, according to which the location is determined to be in the western suburb of Zolotoy Kolodez, much further west of Shakhovo, near Sofiyivka and east of Kucherov Yar.

According to the Pentagon's Liveuamap, the AFU's very strong defense zone in Oktyabrskoye and Vladimirivka ended in a deep "pocket", with a narrow "corridor" to Sofiyivka, where the RFAF Central Group forces were advancing.

In response, the AFU is trying to attack from this semi-cauldron in the direction of Mayak, where the RFAF has built a logistics base for the entire Dobropolsky region. According to Russian Telegram channels, the Ukrainian army continues its breakthrough attempts at the foot of the Dobropolsky spur in the Vladimirivka and Pankivka areas. The AFU is attacking the Russian positions in the cemetery area with all its might. Fighting is also taking place in the quarry area.

According to Ze-TV, an officer of the Ukrainian brigade, fighting in the Dobropolye area, said on August 19 that his unit had repelled a Russian attack in the Veseloye area and that the RFAF was trying to transfer reserves to reinforce the breakthrough area.

Later, the Kiev Ekonomichna Pravda newspaper said, "If the AFU succeeds in establishing a front along the Pankovka-Nikanorovka line, it will be a great success for the AFU. However, the situation in Pokrovsk is difficult, while in the Rodinske area the situation is becoming serious; especially in the northeast, east and south. The Russians are attacking in the city with small infantry groups, special forces and reconnaissance groups."

The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) wrote in their summary bulletin, published on August 20: "The RFAF's infiltration tactics and the lack of AFU troops along the front line in Pokrovsk allowed the RFAF to quickly restore limited tactical maneuverability east and southeast of Dobropillia." Thus, the Dobropillia breakthrough was not cut off, as the AFU General Staff had announced.

Currently, the AFU General Staff has mobilized the entire 1st Mobile Reserve Corps, almost the entire 25th, 79th, 82nd and 92nd Air Assault Brigades; 32nd and 93rd Mechanized Infantry Brigades; 38th Marine Brigade; 14th Reconnaissance Brigade, several "Magyar Bird" UAV companies..., as well as the GUR Special Operations Command and the SBU Special Forces, against the "Russian saboteurs".

However, according to ISW information: "The terrain in the Dobropolye area is flat fields with low population density. All these factors contribute to rapid tactical progress even in conditions of positional confrontation, allowing the RFAF to carry out surprise maneuvers, to support important tactical breakthroughs".

That is, to prevent a breakthrough by the Russian army in such a “relatively open” combat space, the AFU is forced to use a very large force. However, according to foreign experts, “the RFAF will most likely not be able to restore its operational maneuverability on the battlefield in the near future, largely due to the threat from Ukrainian FPV UAVs”.

In response to the above information, AFU FPV UAV operator Serge Marco lamented the “short life” and difficulties of the “Magyar birds” on the Pokrovsk front. Especially when the Russian Rubicon UAV units appeared. Under the cover of greenery, the Rubicon unit pulled the tactical radar into the first formation, synchronized with electronic reconnaissance equipment and UAVs. This coordination became extremely effective.

Marco concluded: the Russians used SIGINT at every possible altitude and detected the activation of UAV control systems, even those obscured by terrain. This is also the reason why the number of missing "Magyar birds" is increasing.

“As a result, a series of our UAVs were suppressed while still approaching the front line of 3-7 km, causing the AFU's reconnaissance capabilities at a distance of 20-30 km to be blocked. We are playing a systematic game imposed by the enemy. That is why we have such results,” Marco wrote. Marco also hopes that in the fall, when the leaves fall, this advantage of the RFAF will no longer exist.

Meanwhile, the Telegram Work, Brothers channel has published a video confirming the failure of the AFU in the Dobropillya breakthrough area. Judging by the footage, the 1st Reserve Mobile Corps of the AFU used tanks, armored vehicles to fight against infantry, mechanized groups, pickup trucks of the Russian special forces.
