Lam Dong surveys the location to build an inter-level boarding school in Quang Truc

On September 24, the working delegation of the Provincial People's Committee led by Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh inspected and listened to a report on the implementation of the construction of a primary and secondary boarding school in Quang Truc commune.

The delegation included representatives of provincial departments, branches and sectors; the Provincial Military Command; Regiment 726 of the 16th Army Corps and leaders of Quang Truc commune.

Overview of the meeting

Quang Truc commune is a border commune, nearly 250km from the administrative center of Lam Dong province, with a border of more than 41km adjacent to the Kingdom of Cambodia. The commune has 26 ethnic groups living together, with 3,170 households, nearly 12,700 people; the poverty rate accounts for 21.3%.

The working group met and reviewed the land location diagram for the proposed construction of an inter-level boarding school for ethnic minorities.

Currently, the whole commune has 5 public schools including: 2 kindergartens, 2 primary schools and 1 secondary school with more than 2,430 students; of which, primary and secondary school have 1,786 students. It is forecasted that by the 2029-2030 school year, the number of students will increase to about 2,906 students.

Comrade Duong Huy Toan, Provincial Party Committee member, Party Committee Secretary of the commune, proposed that the Provincial People's Committee consider and issue a document asking for the opinion of the Ministry of National Defense on the location to build the Inter-level Boarding School 1-2.

However, the commune currently has no boarding school, students have to go to school far away, many have to travel 7-16km to reach the nearest high school. The rate of students continuing to high school is only about 50%, mainly due to economic conditions and difficult transportation.

According to the survey, the construction of a boarding school for grades 1-2 in Quang Truc commune is extremely urgent to meet the learning needs and reduce the dropout rate. At the same time, it creates conditions for students in the border area to study in a spacious environment with full facilities.

Colonel Le Truc Lam, Deputy Commander of the Provincial Military Command, requested Quang Truc commune to advise the Provincial People's Committee to seek opinions from the Ministry of National Defense on survey land locations related to national defense land.

Under the direction of the Central Government, the province and departments and branches, Quang Truc commune surveyed, measured and proposed the location to build the school in sub-area 1448, with an area of ​​6.3 hectares, with the national power grid running through and on Highway 14C. Currently, it is the center between residential areas: Bon Bu Prang 1; Bu Prang 2; Bon Bu Krak re-established and expected to establish a model residential area in the youth village.

The leaders of the Department of Construction requested Quang Truc commune to choose a location to build a school that is not subject to planning, ensuring convenience during the implementation process and on schedule for the project.

Currently, the land is managed by Regiment 726, Army Corps 16, planned as agricultural land but not yet used, mainly bare hills, flat terrain, convenient for school construction.

The leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment requested Quang Truc commune to provide specific coordinates of the survey locations.

However, according to the document of the Provincial Military Command, this location is in the national defense fulcrum planning, part of the national defense land planning for the period 2021-2030 approved by the Prime Minister. Therefore, the Provincial People's Committee needs to consult the Ministry of National Defense before implementing the project.

The working group surveyed 3 land locations proposed by Quang Truc commune to build a primary and secondary boarding school for ethnic minorities.

After conducting a field survey at location 1 and location 2 in Dak Huyt hamlet, and location 3 in Bu Dar hamlet, Quang Truc commune, the working group exchanged, discussed and gave opinions at the meeting, as a basis for selecting the optimal solution to serve the construction of a primary and secondary boarding school in the coming time.

Concluding the meeting, Comrade Nguyen Minh, Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, requested the People's Committee of Quang Truc commune to review and evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of each option, select and propose the optimal option to implement the construction of a boarding school for primary and secondary schools, ensuring the progress and quality of the project. The completed option will be sent to the Department of Education and Training for synthesis and consultation with the Provincial People's Committee for consideration.

The investment in building an inter-level boarding school in Quang Truc commune not only contributes to improving the quality of education in border areas and reducing the number of students dropping out of school, but also attracts people to live there, affirms national sovereignty, contributes to ensuring border security, and promotes sustainable socio-economic development.
