The book series "Financial Education " consisting of 12 books for students from grade 1 to grade 12 was just launched by Vietnam Education Publishing House and Tan Viet Book Company - Tan Viet Bookstore this afternoon, August 18.
This is the first time Vietnam has had a set of financial education books for students according to the level of each class and level of education. The book series is authored and edited by Ms. Le Thi Thuy Sen, Editor-in-Chief of Banking Times, along with a team of editors and an advisory board of leading experts in finance, banking, economics , and law.
The “subject” of finance
According to the Vietnam Education Publishing House, “Financial Education” is a series of specialized books on comprehensive school finance “subjects” systematically designed for students from grades 1 to 12, in accordance with the 2018 General Education Program and standards on knowledge of the banking and financial systems of Vietnam and internationally. The book is designed according to an interdisciplinary method and compatible with the knowledge base of students in each grade.

The book series is structured into three levels with rigorous, scientific content, creating a complete, logical knowledge structure on financial education, suitable for students' levels at each level and with the characteristics of Vietnamese people, customs, and culture, while meeting the requirements of international integration (with reference to the PISA assessment framework on financial knowledge).
The content of each class's book is divided into topics, each topic has lessons with a total estimated duration of about 35 periods (equivalent to 1 period/week), convenient to use when teaching. Throughout 12 classes, each lesson is designed in a unified manner with 4 components, each component has its own function, and is suitable learning activities to serve the lesson.
The materials and images in each lesson are carefully selected, diverse, compatible with the topic system, closely reflecting practical issues of life. The way of expressing and conveying knowledge is vivid, close, rich in humanity, imbued with traditional identity and Vietnamese culture.

Emphasizing that this is not a textbook but a reference book, General Director of Vietnam Education Publishing House Nguyen Tien Thanh said that the book series is compiled as a continuous and consistent financial education curriculum between all levels of education, the content is easy to remember, easy to learn, easy to understand, easy to apply and is a necessary learning material for schools to choose to use for teaching the second session to students.
“The book set also comes with a set of instructional materials so that teachers of other subjects can teach students without needing a separate teacher,” said Mr. Thanh.

Financial education helps children understand the value of money, have the ability to plan and manage personal finances effectively, form saving habits, choose smart spending methods, know how to make wise financial decisions, and avoid risks. Financial education not only teaches about money but also teaches how to live responsibly, respect the value of labor, know how to share, and form good habits.
Recognizing the importance of financial education, most countries in the G20 group and OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) members have developed, deployed and implemented National Strategies on Financial Education. Many countries in Southeast Asia have developed financial education strategies quite early, such as Malaysia, Singapore (2003), Philippines (2008), Indonesia (2013), Thailand (2015)...
In Vietnam, the “National Comprehensive Financial Strategy to 2025, Vision to 2030” has been approved by the Prime Minister, which includes requirements for financial education, improving people’s financial capacity and knowledge. In the 2018 General Education Program, financial education content has also been integrated into a number of subjects.

The Financial Education book series aims to equip the young generation with financial knowledge and skills right from their school years, contributing to creating a generation of citizens with solid financial capacity and confidence in applying financial knowledge in real life.
This is also shared by Master Le Thi Thuy Sen, author of the book series. According to Ms. Sen, financial education is not only about imparting dry knowledge about money, saving or investing, but also a journey of sowing seeds of humanity, nurturing habits, behaviors and creating good financial virtues.
“Therefore, the greatest wish and reward for the author and the team of advisors and collaborators is that the book series is widely distributed to students to contribute to bringing good things about financial knowledge to the community and society,” said Master Le Thi Thuy Sen.
