Orchids bloom brilliantly to welcome the Lunar New Year.

(GLO) - Besides traditional flowers, phalaenopsis orchids are also a popular choice for decorating living spaces during Tet (Lunar New Year). These days, from shops to gardens, phalaenopsis orchids are blooming profusely, ready to welcome spring.

Orchids possess a gentle, delicate beauty that is both elegant and striking. This flower is considered a symbol of abundance, peace, and prosperity – things everyone hopes for at the start of the new year. Therefore, orchids are increasingly chosen for decoration and as gifts during the Lunar New Year.

According to market surveys, phalaenopsis orchids for Tet (Lunar New Year) this year are quite diverse in style and price, ranging from small pots for tabletops to large pots for decorating grand halls. Prices vary depending on color, origin of the flowers, number of stems per pot, and accompanying accessories.

In addition to the above factors, the phalaenopsis orchids from Thuy Orchids (Pleiku ward) also win over customers with the creativity of the growers and the artistic quality in each product.

To prepare for the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, the shop has pre-ordered over 3,000 pots of various types of Da Lat phalaenopsis orchids. Prices range from 300,000 VND to 3,000,000 VND for branches with 18 to 23 flowers.

Upon receiving the flowers, the artisans use wire to bend the stems and adjust the flower heads for a uniform and beautiful appearance before potting them. The orchid arrangements at Thủy Orchids not only feature orchids and greenery but also incorporate handcrafted wood items such as driftwood and rhododendron wood cores, along with charming small decorative pieces, evoking the spirit of traditional Tet (Vietnamese New Year). Notably, most of these accessories are handcrafted by Ms. Võ Thu Thủy, the shop owner, who purchases the raw materials herself.

Ms. Thu Thủy affirms that each piece is the result of a creative process. All the phalaenopsis orchid arrangements at Thủy Orchids are not pre-designed. The artisans must rely on the shape of the accompanying wood to arrange the flowers harmoniously and expressively while still meeting the customer's requirements.

"For me, making orchid pots is also a process of thinking. The craftsman must constantly learn and innovate to create unique designs. The common point of the designs is that they all aim for a natural style, in order to fully showcase the beauty of the orchid," Ms. Thu Thủy shared.

With the desire to make orchid art more accessible, Thuy Orchids offers a range of prices to suit customer needs, from 700,000 VND to several hundred million VND per piece. For large pots, customers only need to purchase the wooden base once; subsequent orders only require bringing the base to the shop to change the flower design.

The atmosphere of the traditional Lunar New Year is also spreading throughout the flower gardens. At Duc Dien orchid garden (Chi Lang ward), the work atmosphere has become more urgent these days in order to ship goods to distant provinces on time. This year, the unit is supplying the market with more than 200,000 pots of phalaenopsis orchids with 60 different flower varieties.

Ms. Vo Hong Lam, an employee at Duc Dien Orchid Garden, said: "About two months before Tet, we start packing and shipping flowers to various places. Retail orders are usually delivered within the city, while orders to other provinces are mainly from Hanoi and the Mekong Delta."

To cultivate healthy orchids with uniform and long-lasting blooms, Duc Dien Orchid Garden places special emphasis on cultivation techniques, investing in greenhouse systems, cooling systems, and air conditioners to ensure optimal growing conditions.

To prepare for the upcoming Lunar New Year of the Horse, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuong Vy (Pleiku ward) went all the way to Duc Dien orchid garden to personally select her favorite orchid branches to decorate her house.

"Through my research, I learned that orchids symbolize good luck, prosperity, and elegance. The flowers are beautiful, elegant, and vibrant; gazing at orchids brings a sense of peace. The prices of orchids are also diverse and affordable, so I chose them to display in my home during Tet," Ms. Vy shared.
