The work "Building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity" is the first book by the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on the issue of national culture. The book was edited and published by the Central Propaganda Department in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism , the National Political Publishing House Truth, the Communist Magazine, the Vietnam News Agency and related agencies, attracting special attention from researchers and readers.

The core content of the work
The work is a selection of 92 articles, speeches, talks, notes, interviews, telegrams, letters... of the late General Secretary on building and developing Vietnamese culture. Among them is the earliest article from 1968 with the title "Folk song and folk song style in To Huu's poetry" published in Literature Magazine, November 1968 issue.
The work demonstrates the late General Secretary's deep concern for building, preserving and developing Vietnamese culture with a harmonious combination of tradition and modernity, identity and integration, creating endogenous resources from the strength of Vietnamese culture and people in the process of building and developing the country.
The work has 3 parts. The first part focuses on the theme of culture as the soul of the nation, including 19 speeches and articles by the late General Secretary at the National Cultural Conference implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party; the Central Executive Committee Conference, the National Conference on Ideological and Cultural Work, the National Propaganda Conference...
With convincing arguments, rich and vivid evidence, the late General Secretary specifically explained the connotation of the concept of building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity. At the same time, he analyzed the role and especially important position of culture in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. The goals, tasks and solutions to fully and comprehensively promote the values of Vietnamese culture.
With the theme of comprehensive and synchronous development so that culture can truly be an endogenous strength and a driving force for sustainable national development, the second part of the work selects 73 speeches, articles, telegrams, letters, etc. of the late General Secretary on the cultural fields as well as the process of building and developing cultural agencies. Through rich practice and sharp theoretical thinking, a deep understanding of the characteristics of each type of culture, the late General Secretary had comprehensive instructions for the fields of literature, art; education , training; science, technology; press, publishing, etc.
The third part of the work, from the cultural thesis to the practical life of the late General Secretary, the work selects 32 articles and interviews with cadres, party members and people in researching, studying and implementing, concretizing the Party's policies and guidelines, the late General Secretary's guiding opinions at the National Cultural Conference, associated with building a system of national values, a system of cultural values, a system of family values and standards for Vietnamese people.

Cultural compass
As an outstanding leader of the Party and a culturalist, the late General Secretary always paid special attention and devoted much effort to the cause of building and developing Vietnamese culture and people, a central issue, a strategic breakthrough, a spiritual foundation, a driving force and an endogenous resource for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. At the same time, the late General Secretary was also very interested in orienting practical solutions, from general issues to specific areas of culture.
For nearly 30 years, since 1997, in many important positions of the Party, State and National Assembly, despite being very busy, in every position, the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong always paid attention and spent time visiting and working with the Party Committees and people of many localities; devoted deep affection, special attention, very important and valuable guidance, creating motivation and helping many localities promote revolutionary traditions, exploit increasingly effectively the cultural heritage left by our ancestors, creating strategic breakthroughs to build and develop our homeland to become increasingly rich, civilized and modern, and constantly improving all aspects of people's lives.
Reiterating the viewpoint that “As long as culture exists, the nation exists”, the late General Secretary always advised localities to closely combine economic growth with cultural development, preserving and promoting cultural heritages. This is an extremely important task, playing a direct role in ensuring the success of the rapid and sustainable transformation of development methods in many localities, including Phu Yen.
The views crystallized from the intellectual stature of the late General Secretary, along with his instructions and suggestions, have promptly encouraged and added motivation to localities in the process of building and developing culture, people, image, and local brands, contributing to creating the Vietnamese brand.
To concretize the instructions and suggestions of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, in recent times, the Provincial Party Standing Committee and the Provincial Party Executive Committee have led and directed the implementation of the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020-2025 and Action Program 15-CTr/TU dated November 19, 2021 on building Phu Yen people for comprehensive development in the period 2021-2025 with many practical and effective contents.
Phu Yen has also paid special attention to reducing the gap between regions; strongly investing in synchronous infrastructure, especially cultural and sports institutions, to improve the living standards and quality of life of the people. The province prioritizes resources, especially arousing the pride and responsibility of the people when living in a land with a rich history, cultural heritage, and an ideal living environment that is always cared for and protected. Besides the cultural and sports events organized by the province, attracting tens of thousands of people to Phu Yen, the community plays an increasingly important role, being the subject in collecting, teaching and promoting cultural heritages in Phu Yen.
Along with the whole country, Phu Yen is aiming to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); 50th anniversary of Phu Yen Liberation Day (April 1, 1975 - April 1, 2025). This is also an opportunity for the whole country to implement the guidance of the Central Propaganda Department on activities to summarize 50 years of Vietnamese literature and arts after the country's reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). The work "Building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity" will be a guideline for localities to honor the contributions and sacrifices of generations working in the field of culture and arts; creating great motivation; continuing to promote cultural heritage as a valuable resource in the current context of development and integration.
